A tag has been placed on The Dukes of Hazzard: Racing for Home, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. De728631 (talk) 18:37, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of wooden thomas trains
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of wooden thomas trains, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - As the notice on my talk page says, please read all associated links and the PROD template before asking "why". Thank you. KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 20:55, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I saw a redlink to this page added to the Thomas & Friends merchandise page and deleted it immediately, warning in the edit summary that pages such as this will not be tolerated.
- The main problem with lists such as this is that they are difficult to verify for accuracy, which leaves them open to additions by Thomas fans wanting to add their favourite characters.
- The secondary problem is that they are of litle interest to anyone other than Thomas fans or collectors of the series concerned.
- Many such lists used to be present on Wikipedia until they were deleted a year or two back. Since then, no new lists have been tolerated. There are other wikis around (such as Train Spotting World, where the original lists were copied to) which list this kind of information and have less strict standards about content.

Thank you for contributing to the 'Thomas'/Railway Series articles. Your contributions are welcome; however, you must abide by Wikipedia guidelines, and so you should be careful to ensure any 'Thomas' or similar information can be backed-up by external references.
Regarding merchandise information... Such details are on the border of being acceptable within Wikipedia articles: too much and the whole lot might be deleted. That is one of the reasons why lists of models are not tolerated. There is so much Thomas merchandise available that even a summary takes up a lot of space. I am sorry if some of your contributions have been deleted, but you will appreciate that there are standards to maintain here. Please don't be down-hearted as there is no shortage of work to do, and your participation will be appreciated.

- If you wish to reply, please do so on my talk page, as I am not watching this page (nor your list of wooden trains). You have made so many edits to these pages over the past day or so that they are swamping my watchlist! EdJogg (talk) 10:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Oliver/Duke
Hi. Please do not create pages for these two characters. Over two years ago, when the Wikiproject:THOMAS was just getting going, a decision was taken to rationalise the 'Thomas' character coverage within Wikipedia so that only the most significant characters would have their own pages. (See details at WP:THOMAS)
Unfortunately, neither Oliver nor Duke appear in enough books/episodes to be classed as 'major characters', and hence do not qualify for their own pages.
Thanks. EdJogg (talk) 00:15, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Oliver Page
Hello Nick,
I just wanted to let you know that it is not allowed on Wikipedia to make a whole page for Oliver the western engine or any of the other minor characters.
Your friend, ZEM (Hankengine) (talk) 21:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think that 'not allowed' is rather strong. When members of the Thomas WikiProject were discussing how many character articles should be present in Wikipedia, it was decided that only the most significant should have their own pages. Oliver was one of those considered to be a 'minor' character, and hence should only appear on the grouped pages. I agree that Oliver is the most borderline of the major Railway Series characters, and I have nearly created a page for him myself, but I think we must maintain the position that was reached through consensus and leave him on the grouped pages.
- You have obviously put a lot of work into your new page, but I think we should make it a redirect, like the several others that already exist! Before we do that, perhaps you can incorporate some of what you have written into the TV Series character description. (I think the Railway Series character description is quite detailed enough already.) I trust this is OK for you.
...and a video for u

Thanks for uploading Image:250px-Duke.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. Duke's page
Hey Bulldog, you're gonna make yourself look stupid making pages for minor characters when WikiProject Thomas members have already decided that minor characters should not have their own pages. You're gonna look bad. Your friend, ZEM (Hankengine) (talk) 19:32, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. I'm gonna try to get the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" movie from my library when it comes out on DVD. ZEM (Hankengine) (talk) 19:32, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I presume this is just a copy of the page from the TtTE Wiki at Wikia. What's the point? You have all the space you need there, and far fewer restrictions (I would guess). Copying it here just makes work for everyone. I would rather you spent your time here improving other articles rather than copying them from Wikia. I will resolve the duplication later...
- I agree that Duke is borderline for having his own page, especially as he is based on two railways in the books and one (effectively) in the TV Series, which makes his story particularly complicated. However, the list of main characters was agreed by numerous project participants, and I see no reason to overturn this now.
Possibly unfree Image:250px-Duke.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:250px-Duke.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. EdJogg (talk) 17:57, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- These are normally regarded as 'non-free' images, and your reasoning is not adequate I'm afraid. Just because you can (presumably) use an image at Wikia does not mean it may be copied or used here.
- Look at some of the other 'Thomas' pictures to see what you need to do to allow it to stay. EdJogg (talk) 17:57, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Your responsibility
Yo, bulldawg. Some bustas are poppin caps at me about WPTMC. Its your responsibility holmes. Good luck. The New Squeaky razgovor 00:44, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- [Sigh!] Don't forget that this is an English dictionary...
- Regarding "WPTMC":
- I don't want to stop you and your mates from having a laugh, but Wikipedia is not the place to do it. Draw attention to the Thomas pages and some non-Thomas fan will come along and find something that doesn't meet WP guidelines...and the next thing you know there'll be wholesale deletion of Thomas articles...and I'm sure you don't want that.
- Creating that 'project' page has made extra work for several people: me, for informing you about it and making sure you don't try and use it; and whoever has to go to the trouble of deleting it (because I can't). This stops us all from doing more productive work on Wikipedia.
Hi,
There is no reason for you to stop editing wikipedia, just because you have had a small run-in with long-established and respected editors. I'm sure EdJogg would agree with me that it is very daunting when you first start editing an encyclopedia, and you quickly learn how to make really constructive edits that help, rather than hinder, everybody. The most important things to remember are to edit articles that are in poor shape, and try to improve them with the help of good quality writing and reliable references. That doesn't mean that editing Wikipedia can't be fun. The sense of enjoyment and purpose of turning into a two line article (stub) into one that others like reading is really pleasing and the positive interaction between yourself and your fellow editors is something that will serve you well throughout your life. I hope this experience doesn't put you off editing, but try to take on board what experienced editors such as EdJogg is trying to say, and remember that between us, we have seen plenty of poorly-thought through ideas from new editors that go against months and years of discussion with like-minded individuals and naturally want to save the heart-ache of trying to make sure things don't spiral out of hand, when we would rather be writing articles ourselves. One of the highest priorities that we have to deal with is weeding out "cruft" - essentially fan 'fiction', which has no place in a serious wikipedia (would you see it in a paper encyclopedia), from geniune edits that need proper referencing to get articles closer to the elusive Featured article status.
Yes, EdJogg and I are both fully aware that the Thomas articles leave a lot to be desired on the referencing front, and we would rather spend our time trying to rectify this.
Best wishes, –MDCollins (talk) 03:00, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm here to help, not to 'bug' you...
- OK, so you're not happy that I have written what I have.
- You probably don't want to listen to what I am saying, but I am trying to help you; trying to stop you getting frustrated because the time you spend writing things is 'wasted' as someone has come along and removed it again.
- Wikipedia has rules. They call them policies and guidelines, but they are still rules.
- I have been editing for long enough to know that if you follow the 'rules' you will have a happy time at Wikipedia. If you do not follow the rules, sooner or later someone will come along and tell you so, or else they will discover your article and change it so that it obeys the rules. They are allowed, even encouraged to do this. And if you create a new article that breaks the rules, they are entitled to delete it.
- You know that I am sympathetic towards the Thomas & Friends articles, almost protective. When you make good edits, I am very pleased -- it's less work for everyone else. All my recent comments are trying to help you know what are good edits.
- Don't be disheartened; try to be aware of the rules and you'll have a happy time here.
- And feel free to drop me a question if there is something you need help on, just please don't be upset if I tell you it's not allowed!
