Hi - would you advise how to take the Pluto Press 1969-87 page off the air while it is edited in response to the wikipedia feedback? It wasn't intended to go public like that - expected a submit button!
thanks, Buffeteer
- Wikipedia is an Encylopedia. If your trying to delete the page you can't do that, only administrators can delete pages and in most cases you need a consensus do that. That article has multiple problems so you could try to work on making it better. For Proposing deletion see WP:AFD, WP:PROD, WP:CSD. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. - I have "userfied" the article, by moving it to User:Buffeteer/Pluto Press 1969 - 1987. This is not a permanent place for it, but a temporary resting place out of the public encyclopaedia, where you can work on it. I assume that was the sort of thing you wanted, but if you want it deleted completely, then let me know on my talk page, and I will do that for you. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:25, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Pluto Press 1969 - 1987
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Pluto Press 1969 - 1987 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - MrX 22:31, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Status and Advice
[edit]As reviewing administrator, I did not delete the article, for it indicates possible importance.
However, I am confused about the relationship with Pluto Press, for the dates overlap. The first thing yo need to do is clarify this.
The second thing you need to do is verify that the material here is not copied from any previously published material; it reads as if it were, and if it is , it can not be published here unless the copyright owner is willing to give us permission according to CC:BY-SA, using the full formalities at WP:DCM (permission that irrevocably gives everyone in the world the right to copy, reuse, and modify the material). If not, it must be rewritten entirely, avoiding even Close paraphrase, which means changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas. (I noticed the phrase "our target readership", a clear indication that this sentence at least had been copied from elsewhere.
Even so, a Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. So if the material was prepared by the publisher, it must be supplemented by material from such sources. The UK trade publishing journals of the period probably have something; so probably does the radical press. the Guardian ref is a good one; see if you can find more.
Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject, or to prospective clients/purchasers/students--that sort of content is considered promotional. A list of books or authors published is inappropriate content. You can mention a few famous ones, but that's all. Otherwise the article will appear promotional, and will inevitably be deleted.
As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Pluto Press, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 180 days. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.
