Information icon Hello, I'm AstrooKai. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Colet (singer), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. AstrooKai (Talk) 08:28, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding information about the subject's ancestral descent if it is not supported by any of the references cited in the prose, as you did in the articles, Stacey (singer), Colet (singer), and Maloi (singer). All content must be verifiable explicitly from the reliable sources cited. If you can provide a source that will verify these ancestral descents, then you can re-add them back to the articles along with the source. AstrooKai (Talk) 08:38, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is in the sources when they stated the places they where born. People in Bohol are Boholanos, People from Nueva Viscaya are ilocanos and people from Batangas are Tagalog. I believe for lack of better word, that it is your ignorance for not understand the sources better thank you. Bryan7778888 (talk) 08:43, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, "descent" refers to ancestral or familial lineage.[1] While it is common to refer to people born in Bohol as Boholanos, describing someone as "of Boholano descent" specifically means they have an ancestral or genealogical connection. This needs to be explicitly supported by reliable sources.
For example, a person born in Bohol to parents from Cebu would not be of Boholano descent but could still be called a Boholano in a locational sense (also known as demonymns). This distinction is important in articles, especially for WP:BLPs, where all content must comply with Wikipedia's verifiability policy (specifically WP:FULLCITE), meaning claims must be explicitly supported by the cited sources. In this case, the references do not confirm the subject's ancestral descent, they only confirm that they are born from that province. If you can provide reliable sources that explicitly verify this, you are welcome to re-add the information with proper citations. AstrooKai (Talk) 09:14, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
TL;DR: You're referring to demonym, but you said it in the article as a descent. Those two are very distinctive. AstrooKai (Talk) 09:26, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is very redundant and culturally uninformed. Bryan7778888 (talk) 08:56, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is you who is proving to be ignorant and culturally uninformed when you lump everyone in Nueva Vizcaya (which you couldn't even spell right) as Ilocanos, considering that Nueva Vizcaya has tons of ethnic groups if you bother to read its article and the references used. And for transparency I lived there for four years. Borgenland (talk) 14:08, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And if you insist on knowing better and unilaterally categorizing people by your whims by acting WP:IDNHT, here's [2]. Borgenland (talk) 14:19, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay dictator Bryan7778888 (talk) 14:36, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
wow you change account just to act like there is two of you? Bryan7778888 (talk) 14:38, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Uhm, actually, multiple accounts are not allowed here on Wikipedia (unless explicitly declared), and Borgenland is not my account, they have literally edited here on Wikipedia for several years now unlike me who has only been here for a few years.
Since you're new here anyway, you may want to read the policies and guidelines. And I want to remind you to remain civil and keep the tone down, or you risk yourself getting blocked. AstrooKai (Talk) 15:00, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Viscaya is the same. Just like Filipinas and Pilipinas is the same. One is Spanish and the other is from a local. And 62.3% of Nueva Viscaya is Ilocano and Stacy speaks Ilocano. So it's very rendundant. You're simplyfighting to win and shame the other. At least be logical and professional. Bryan7778888 (talk) 14:45, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:No original research. Wikipedia is not a crystalball and we don't assume a subject's ancestral descent solely based on statistics. AstrooKai (Talk) 15:03, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yet the Wikipedia article and the consensus of WP:RS starts with Z and I also speak Ilocano and identify as Ibanag at the same time (if you forget the principle of multilingualism prevalent in this country). And your assumption of ethnicity based on statistics rather than providing WP:RS marks you more as illogical and unprofessional. Thank you. Borgenland (talk) 16:30, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bryan7778888, welcome to Wikipedia, I see you've had a rough start in these last couple of days. It appears that you are trying to make constructive edits to Wikipedia with good intentions. However, it also seems like some of your changes run against the several policies and guidelines in place here to protect the integrity of Wikipedia, with a specific focus when we're talking about biographies of living people. It seems like some equally well meaning editors have taken a very strong position regarding your edits and citing many of these policies, that a someone with so few edits and days of experience can really be expected to know. But that does not mean you can just edit whatever or however you want -- even if it seems like that is what everyone else is doing. So this is an attempt at a bit more of a friendlier welcome and to offer some advice on moving forward, because we really want constructive editors to be a part of Wikipedia! The most common way for people to contribute initially is out of ignorance of the polices, and when you make an edit that to other people seem not properly sources/reliable, even though you know it is true, people sometimes jump to the assumption you're coming here as a vandal or other malicious intent. I see that is not likely the case for you. Instead let me direct you in a few ways --- (1) consider making other edits which might not be contentious, and if they are reverted, take a look and read WP:BRD. (2) before making most changes about a living person, take some time to read and understand WP:BLP. Just remember that all edits that you make generally need to be not of your own reasoning or research (considered origional research), but rather found in WP:SECONDARY sources, which come from reliable sources. If you want to create a page, that is also encourages, but to avoid a lot of time wasted, take time to understand WP:YFA... If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me!
