Your recent editing history at Kim Jong-un shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Labour Party (UK) leadership election, 2010, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Dave Watts and Christopher Williamson. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Honorifics in lists of politicians

[edit]

Hi Brucejoel99. Since you've edited one or more of List of current members of the British Privy Council, British Government frontbench and Official Opposition frontbench in the last six months, I'd like to invite you to a discussion about the use of honorifics in those lists. The discussion is happening here, and I look forward to a helpful and robust discussion. DBD 20:55, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy. We should be concentrating on the fact that the article is about choosing the next leader of the party & the leadership candidates. Not about the interim leadership & its candidates. GoodDay (talk) 22:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We should also consider that the interim leadership election of the party is a part of the leadership election overall. This is the first time a leadership election is happening post-leader-resignation, so we're setting the precedent here for future CPC leadership election wiki pages. I don't think it's too much to ask to have the Interim leadership election take up one section in a page that 2-3 years from now could have 8-10 sections. Brucejoel99 (talk) 23:32, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The interim leaderishp contest is not a part of the upcoming Leadership race. GoodDay (talk) 05:11, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The definition of the word "encyclopedia":a book or set of books giving information on many subjects or on many aspects of one subject and typically arranged alphabetically. The interim leadership contest is most certainly an aspect of the leadership election overall, as he or she is leading the party for the next 5 months-2 years. Brucejoel99 (talk) 05:17, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The article is about choosing the next leader of the party, which involves the entire membership of the Conservative Party. The interim leadership was a choice among only the party caucus. GoodDay (talk) 05:19, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, than if you want to have a page just for the rank-and-file leadership election than start a separate page for just the interim leadership contest. But the information's gotta go somewhere, b/c it's information that could be, should be, & will be of relevant use one day. Brucejoel99 (talk) 05:22, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just take notice of how little mention is made of interim leaders & their contests in other party leadership election articles, where there was an interim leader. GoodDay (talk) 05:28, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The 2011-13 LPC contest doesn't go in depth into its interim leadership b/c there were only 2 candidates, whereas this had 8 candidates running 7 campaigns. I think, if not anything else, it should at least include a list of candidates in an interim leader section on the main leadership election pg. Brucejoel99 (talk) 05:38, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Again, put that info into a new article (as suggested below), the main article should focus on the upcoming race, which requires participation of the entire party membership. GoodDay (talk) 05:44, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
PS, If you wish, just create an article called 2015 Conservative Party of Canada interim leadership contest. Though again, note that in a few weeks/months, this contest will fade in importance. GoodDay (talk) 05:31, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Brucejoel99, while it was relatively understandable in your dealings with "Total Dynamic", I am pretty sure you violated the three revert rule. I am sure you would not wish to be subject to a report for violating it with respect to the LD selection box. Please, if you feel the box really is justified, argue your case on the talk page, rather than put yourself in a position of that earlier violation counting against you. DrArsenal (talk) 23:28, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DrArsenal (talk), the edit of the selection box I made today was not in response to TotalDynamic but the fact that the last person in the relevant section of the London mayoral talk page said "it would be better to represent it by a traditional basic result box". I couldn't find this type of box, so I simply used the same box as the others. Meanwhile, regarding TotalDynamic, as you said, those dealings were understandable as previous policy was parties w/ 5% last time in the infobox, so please understand that I do not believe that this fits the criteria of a 3RR & thus doesn't warrant reporting. And regarding the selection box, I will gladly argue the case for the selection box in the election's talk page, but in the meantime I believe the box should remain since the box being added is what started all this hoopla in the first place. Thank you. Brucejoel99 (talk) 23:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Brucejoel99 I didn't report either you or TotalDynamic, and I chose to warn you rather than get to a situation where I would want to report you :-). I'm glad now that you are arguing the case on the talk page. As for your reasoning, please be aware that what the 'last person in the relevant section' says does not necessarily have any greater status than what other people have said. Please avoid changing "Trump" to "Drumpf"

[edit]

Hi Brucejoel99. In one of your recent edits, you changed the word "Trump" to "Drumpf". I assume that this was unintentional and caused by having the Drumpfinator extension enabled. To avoid this kind of mistake in the future, please disable the extension before editing articles that mention Trump. Thank you. —Granger (talk · contribs) 00:47, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Granger, I'm sorry. I did have the extension enabled & I didn't even think to check whether Trump was in the article; I will be disabling it before editing Wikipedia articles from now on. Thanks! Brucejoel99 (talk) 00:53, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know that these are Deputy Leaders of the Party? Mr Hall of England (talk) 14:34, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • B/c they've all been referred to contemporaneously as Deputy Leader. "Deputy Leader" is not technically an official position, but Leaders have referred to persons as their Deputy, such as David Cameron referring to Hague (&, later, Osborne after Hague retired) as his Deputy. British Labour Party Leadership Election Timetable 2016

[edit]

Hi, you reverted my recent request for a better reference than Twitter on the timeline of this election. While someone like yourself or myself with an interest in politics can understand what it says, to a casual observer this looks like a photograph of a crumpled typed page on some guys twitter page (who may or may not be who he claims to be - that is probably why Twitter is considered unreliable) - see WP:Reliable Sources Xyzspaniel (talk) 20:24, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I can put a LabourList source there (though it's using the same Twitter source; to be fair, though, George Eaton of the New Statesman is a pretty reliable source & judging from previous posts on his Twitter, it's the real guy, but I understand.) I will do that now. Thanks for airing your concern. Brucejoel99 (talk) 20:30, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
