Access

Hello. Just wondering where you have access to the Nashville Business Journal--is it through the WP Library please?Zigzig20s (talk) 10:15, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

@Zigzig20s: I accessed the article directly through the link you provided. But it informed me that I have used 2 of my 3 free article accesses. —Bruce1ee 10:35, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

URGENT! - Cyber equality unrealizable

Please do not add defamatory posts to my wikipedia user page! Lina is a deceased women that was researching psychological deficiencies that led to the discovery of dementia as a condition. Please do not disrespect my research as i have put time and effort into gaining evidence to my claims. If you still have any doubts, visit my Internet cite for proof and reassurance at www.pornhub.com. Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Greger1234 (talkcontribs) 10:45, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

"Since Lina is the definition of demented, the word dementia came from one of Lina's retard moments. Lina the assface" ([1]) is hardly "research" – it's vandalism! —Bruce1ee 10:51, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Thank you

Just wanted to drop a note to say thank you for reverting my article request. I haven't requested an article in some time, so I neglected to include my sources. I will be sure to do so when re-submitting the request. My apologies for the error!

Mdrozdowski (talk) 13:43, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

Not a problem – thanks for adding the sources. —Bruce1ee 14:28, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing my formatting error, too. So sorry for the hassle! Mdrozdowski (talk) 14:32, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Happy to help! —Bruce1ee 14:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

The Beach Boys

You might want to go back and actually fix what you reverted on the Beach Boys page. You left it like this "{{refn|group=nb|Starting with the 1970 sessions" I may have broken the reference but I didn't leave a bad fix behind.

Malice1982 (talk) 16:51, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

My apologies – I didn't realise you were attempting to fix an already broken ref. I see it was introduced here on February 2. Anyway I've fixed it. Thanks for trying to fix it yourself. —Bruce1ee 17:22, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. Toddst1 (talk) 06:47, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

@Toddst1: Thanks, I wasn't aware of that change. Question: does that mean that each entry will now require an inline citation? Is it not sufficient that each linked article is supported by reliable sources? —Bruce1ee 06:59, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes, it does. I think the way this is rolling out is that new additions should be directly sourced. There are a number of us going through the old stuff and adding sources to the DOY pages where they exist in the linked articles and in the process pulling out a ton of errors (which is the point of this whole change). That will be a long process.
In parallel, there's a discussion over at Village Pump about limiting what goes in to these articles and how long the articles should be so we don't have stuff like "On this date in 1965, the Pope's dog farted."[3] littering these articles. Toddst1 (talk) 15:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, and good luck – it is going to be a long process! —Bruce1ee 20:20, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

request for a company page

Hi, Brucelee, I wondering if you could help me to create a company page. MiniTool which is a software develop company based in Canada, their software MiniTool Partition Wizard which is the most useful. You could find the source from NYT (search MiniTool), if this could be a reliable resource or not. Thanks so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joker jun (talkcontribs) 15:54, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

@Joker jun: I reverted your request for an article on MiniTool Solution Ltd here because it reads like an advert. A more neutral tone is required, something like:
MiniTool Solution Ltd – software development company based in Canada, creators of MiniTool Partition Wizard, MiniTool Power Data Recovery and MiniTool ShadowMaker.
But the other problem with your request is that all the sources you list relate to MiniTool Partition Wizard, not the company. You need to add reliable, independent, 3rd party sources about the company. —Bruce1ee 17:36, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
@Bruce1ee: Hi, thanks for your kind suggestion, I will follow it to make another request. About the sources, I just follow the other software company page, like Piriform_,you could check there, most of its resources are relate to their product CCleaner.
Any other suggestion would be appreciate. Best Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joker jun (talkcontribs) 13:42, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
Piriform does have a few sources about the company, whereas your request still has no sources about MiniTool. But I see it's been accepted, so I'll leave it at that. Whoever picks up your request will have to decide whether there is enough to create an article. —Bruce1ee 16:35, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
@Bruce1ee:Sure, I will add more resources relate to MiniTool, anyway, thanks for your kind suggestion, best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joker jun (talkcontribs) 9:13, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Meccano model Steam shovel excavator.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Meccano model Steam shovel excavator.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:53, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm 6Packs. An edit that you recently made to April 30 seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! 6Packs (talk) 15:31, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

@6Packs: You reverted the wrong edit. My edit was to revert the IP's edit here. —Bruce1ee 15:34, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
Bruce1ee thanks, yes I was typing my summary reason for the revert to 'doing homework isn't a profession' on my android. After saving, I noticed you had already done it and instead yours and not the IP's was undone. Also my Internet loading couldn't quickly notice the change had occured. Acept my sensere apologies for that 6Packs (talk) 15:40, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
@6Packs: Not a problem! I've had the same thing happen to me – it was an honest mistake. All the best... —Bruce1ee 15:45, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

Short description

I've been working on a fix that should work. Could you please take a look at User:Gonnym/sandbox/tests2 and User:Gonnym/sandbox/tests1 and tell me if you see anything that shouldn't be there? --Gonnym (talk) 13:45, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

This is all I'm seeing:
  • tests2 – an infobox with a title "Test" and a single line "Lost episode"; two hidden categories, "Pages with short description" and "Television episode articles with short description with no season number"
  • tests1 – only the two hidden categories in tests2
I'm not seeing any short descriptions on either of the test pages. BTW I've ticked "Show page description beneath the page title" in Preferences/Gadgets – that's how I'm seeing the short descriptions. I don't know if this helps you at all. —Bruce1ee 14:10, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't know about that gadget. I enabled them from /common.css. Seems the gadget does not work on the User namespace (seems reasonable). Ok, please try this. Go to Dinner Party (The Office) and let me know if it's fixed for you. --Gonnym (talk) 14:27, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that's fixed it. The short description I see now is "13th episode of the fourth season of The Office", which is what it should be. It seems like you've solved the problem. Thanks. —Bruce1ee 14:32, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
That's good to hear. I'll just wait for the 2nd user who reported the issue to confirm he doesn't see it on iOS (as I can't test that) and then I'll put in a request for the sandbox changes to go live. --Gonnym (talk) 14:36, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Also, the short description in the mobile search results for "Dinner Party" is correct. —Bruce1ee 14:40, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Help Understanding

Could you please help me understand what the following means and advise of next steps? Reverted 1 pending edit by SjohnsonCMC to revision 867645711 by Muhammadatifjav: not the place for that, please use one of the subpages) (Tag: Replaced) I'm trying to figure out if the subpage reference was meant for me or Muhammadatifjav? If it's meant for me, can you help direct me to that location to put in a request for a new page about a company? Thank you in advance for your assistance. SjohnsonCMC (talk) 14:32, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

You're referring to this edit, and the message was meant for you. I reverted your edit because you placed your request for an article on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Companies, which is an index page. It should have been placed on one the index page's subpages. The instructions are at the top of the index page. I hope that help. —Bruce1ee 15:35, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Thank you! That was very helpful. I appreciate your time and assistance. 147.0.206.114 (talk) 15:20, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Could you help me understand the timeline/process after I placed the request on subpage? Thank you. SjohnsonCMC (talk) 18:47, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Having placed your request, now you just have to wait until an editor picks it up and creates the article for you. Remember that Wikipedia is a volunteer service, which means that there are no people dedicated to creating articles, only those who volunteer to do so at any time they wish. So it is impossible to tell when your request will be fulfilled. I hope that helps. —Bruce1ee 21:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

It does help, thank you again for your quick response! SjohnsonCMC (talk) 14:36, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
