Statin

[edit]

I have temporarily removed your addition from statin, because there are some problems:

  • You wrote it in the style of a newspaper article, not that of an encyclopedia (see WP:Summary style for some style advice)
  • The content was about the combination of simvastatin with a cholesterol absorption inhibitor. Given that simvastatin itself has very good data, this is primarily a problem with ezetimibe and would therefore belong on the latter drug's page.

Please let me know if you have any questions. JFW | T@lk 21:32, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your Article

[edit]

Hey, it nice to see you are creating articles. Please remember that articles are subject to Notability. If your article doesn't have references or make some assertion that article is notible using third party refrences it runs a high chance of being deleted. I would recommend creating a user subpage and working on the article there then transferring it to the article space once complete. -- Nn123645 (talk) 18:48, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will work on this. All the bios added are of notable people (e.g. Jonathan Biss), but I'll try to add references. - Brozhnik

Hi. On June 4th, another contributor marked Jacqueline Shire for copyright concerns, as it seems to be primarily copied from her official biography. It comes ripe for admin closure today, but I see that you have not been notified. Accordingly, I will place the template generated for this purpose below. Please excuse the text that presumes you are a new contributor; it is a fairly general template, but it includes some valuable links to help you verify our authorization to use text from that source. Although it has no copyright notice, it has no explicit disclaimer, either, which we require unless we can otherwise show that the text is free for use. Thanks, and please let me know if you have questions about this. I am relisting this article for another week and will be watching your talk page to see if I can clarify any of this. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I note that Miriam Fried and John A. Butt also seem to contain text duplicated from official sources. Nadia Reisenberg seems to have been largely copied from [1]. As the template below explains, we cannot use such text unless we have verification of permission or the sources have explicit license disclaimer. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:38, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Jacqueline Shire, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.isis-online.org/about/staff/jshire.html, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), versions 1.3 or later then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Jacqueline Shire and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Jacqueline Shire with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Jacqueline Shire.

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Jacqueline Shire saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for these points, Moonriddengirl. I hope someone else will do something about Jacqueline Shire. Not quite sure what to do about the bio section of John A Butt, as it's a very plain factual chronology: he was born here, was educated there, then he went there, then he went there. Bullet points? One thing that I'd like to see fixed if I had the skill: the article should be titled "John Butt (musician)" - only on Wikipedia is the subject known as John A Butt. If you could fix that, it would be helpful to users, I think. Thanks again.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Brozhnik! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]

Thank you for submitting an article to Wikipedia. Your submission has been reviewed and has been put on hold pending clarification or improvements from you or other editors. Please take a look and respond if possible. You can find it at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wye Jamison Allanbrook. If there is no response within twenty-four hours the request may be declined; if this happens feel free to continue to work on the article. You can resubmit it (by adding the text {{subst:AFC submission/submit}} to the top of the article) when you believe the concerns have been addressed. Thank you. I have been unable to find any published sources (e.g., newspaper obituaries), other than in an announcement sent to members of the American Musicological Society listserv and the news page of its website (to which I linked). A full obit will be in the next issue of the AMS newsletter, which is usually posted online. If there is a newspaper obit, as there may be in Oakland,CA, i have failed to track one down. although I tried. That she was the author of Rhythmic Gesture in Mozart, gave the Bloch lectures, was a professor and chair at Cal, was a Guggenheim fellow, and was the president of AMS - all are public info. But her death (very sad news to me) - well, if the AMS website doesn't count, you need a newspaper obit, and and I'll seek one tonight.

Oboe Concerto

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your information on Strauss's Oboe Concerto. Hoever, it's too much information for the Strauss article. The info needs to be transferred to the article on the Oboe Concerto (Strauss) itself. I've added a lot of what you wrote to the article on de Lancie, and was about to then remove it from the Strauss article and add it to the Oboe Concerto article, but I see you are still adding to the section. Anyway, could you please move the material to the concerto article, and then do your adding to it there? Thanks very much. All the best, -- Softlavender (talk) 04:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum: I noticed you were done and so I made the move myself. I added the information to the articles on the Oboe Concerto (which needed expanding) and De Lancie. I removed the bulk of it from the Strauss article, because it was overly detailed for that section and article. Cheers, Softlavender (talk) 07:50, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article submission Wye Jamison Allanbrook

[edit]

Hello Brozhnik. It has been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Wye Jamison Allanbrook.

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note, however, that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wye Jamison Allanbrook}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 04:00, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Signatures

[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Brozhnik. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
