Better source request for File:Marvin-soulful-moods.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Marvin-soulful-moods.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Admrboltz (talk) 22:49, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi BrothaTimothy, you know what, this is the wrong order (in sequence) of the Gordy siblings from oldest to youngest. Now if we click on to Google, we'll find that it probably should be something like this (though George and Loucye's order could be switched) -
- 1918-1991 Fuller Berry Gordy
- 1920- Esther Gordy Edwards (wife of George Edwards)
- 1921- Anna Gordy Gaye (wife of Marvin Gaye; note that the mother of Marvin Gaye's son is Denise Gordy, George Gordy's daughter, not Anna)
- 192 - George Gordy (husband of Rosemary?; also see above)
- 1924-1965 Loucye Gordy Wakefield (wife of Mister Wakefield)
- 1927-1999 Gwen Gordy Fuqua (wife of Harvey Fuqua)
- 1929- Berry Gordy, Jr. (MOTOWN)
- 1931- Robert Gordy
Interesting, hmm? Best, --Discographer (talk) 02:14, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have two dates for Anna's birth, the one you have listed as 12 Dec 1921, and one for 7 Mar 1922. We also need George Gordy's birth date. I noticed you kept silent on mentioning Denise Gordy and Marvin Gaye being the parents of Anna's son, intersting! Best, --Discographer (talk) 10:38, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

- Well, I've found that USA Today newspaper shows that Berry Gordy IV is his father, so that makes SkyBlue Berry Gordy's grandson. Though how accurate this is, I'm not sure. Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:33, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Can you do some research on this, and find out if Theo Peoples is indeed out of the Four Tops? Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:04, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi my friend! I've got a super big request to ask of you, and that concerns an article creation of Spike Deleon, if you'd be intersted that is. To my understanding, this is not even his real name, though as good as an article creator you are, I'm sure you can figure out what to do with this and the spelling of his last name. With Theo Peoples now out of the group, I think it's best that we continue with links for all the rest of the Four Tops members. Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 19:40, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Little Richard - Charlie Penniman's death
Hi. I saw that you'd changed the date of Charlie Penniman's death to 12 January 1952 again. I reverted your first edit because you didn't provide details of the source of your information; as I wrote on the Little Richard Talk page, the best source I found was the Social Security Death Index. Because it gives the date of Charlie's death as "February 1952", I believe that's what the article should give as the date. But because you've changed the date again (on 2011-03-24) I suspect you have a more accurate source than the SSDI and, if you actually do, I hope you'll also make the change and include the details of your source. At present, the date in the article is not supported by the source, so I have edited it to be the same as the source (February 1952). I'm interested in getting the most accurate and supported information for the article, so please understand this isn't a personal thing. Thanks.Thyrd (talk) 15:53, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the update, BrothaTimothy. I'll delete the SSDI ref. Thyrd (talk) 15:36, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Harold Bonhart. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Supworld.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Supworld.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:40, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
The article Harold Bonhart has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Four Marvin Gaye singles remaining for article creation
Hi Brotha Timothy!!! Hey, long time no speak! Well, let me say what's on my mind, and that is, that we should create the remaining four singles which were released by Marvin Gaye, into articles, so then all of his singles have an article of their own. What do you say? These are the four remaining titles awaiting article creation:
- "I Want to Come Home for Christmas"
- "Pops, We Love You (A Tribute to Father)"
- "Just Like"
- "The World Is Rated X"
If you say yes, we can work with one another on this! Best, --Discographer (talk) 15:25, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding back! I'm glad you're interested also. I'll try and be of help somehow. Of the songs from Midnight Love, I see the three titles you're referring to. It would be absolutely great to get all his songs created as articles! Best, --Discographer (talk) 17:16, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't have any problem with the content of any of your edits - but where are the sources? I'm sure you know that we have to be very careful about biographies of living people, and if an unhelpful editor came to that article in its current state, lacking virtually any sources, almost the whole article could be deleted as unreferenced. That would be a great shame for such a great singer (I'm sure we're both fans) - but it does need some explanation of where the material about her comes from. If you just want to tell me the sources on my talk page, so that I can format the references and include them, that's no problem at all. Regards, Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:20, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

FAC comment
Hi. I recently nominated Sons of Soul for FA, but it hasnt received much attention at its FAC page. Seeing as you are a member of the article's associated Wikiproject, I was wondering if you'd like to comment. Dan56 (talk) 13:01, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- At WP:FAC, there's an overview of "Supporting and opposing". Comments (support/oppose,etc.) are left at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Sons of Soul/archive1. As for Gaye's article, there's a wealth of information from these two biographical books: David Ritz's Divided Soul and Michael Eric Dyson's Mercy Me.... I generally stick to album articles, as I edit those I've listened to and am familiar with, and the information available is more compact than bios, especially those of legendary artists. Looking through GoogleBooks, those two seem to be the top bios. GoogleNews' archive search isnt what it used to be since Google remodelled the site, esp. for archive articles around Gaye's time, so I'd stick to books. From the Wikiproject musicians page, WikiGuy86 and Leahtwosaints might be interested, as they've edited R&B artists' articles. Dan56 (talk) 15:26, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Greetings, I may be able to help you
Hey there Bro- nice to meet you. I'll keep an eye out for sources to use in the Marvin Gaye article, and also free use photos, if at all possible rather than those requiring rationales. However, I noticed other editors with experience on your talk page already, and looking at the talk page for Gaye's article, it shows that it did reach GA Status but was reexamined and lost that rank. Whenever that's the case, the reviewers always leave suggestions for improvement back. I don't know how experienced you are at editing, but Gaye's article is quite large, so if you are looking for a new project, you may want to begin with something smaller, like an album page. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:46, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

I usually can find some good source material but my personal computer is down at the moment so it's hard for me to be a big help right now. I definitely think Marvin Gaye's an artist that's deserving of Good Article status, if not Featured. When my computer's up and running again I'll get back to you. In the meantime I'll try to dig up some good articles/books on him. WikiGuy86 (talk) 19:58, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited James Brown, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Republican (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- You know I'm not one too much interested in sources, I know what you're talking about though, even if most people don't. I guess nowadays we have to include them in articles, or trouble will just pursue us. That's why I decided to focus more on books than articles, because not everything in the past had any sources at all, even if it was a factual thing that happened. I've just nominated I Heard It Through the Grapevine for GA. There's a little bit of work still to do, but I think that essentially it meets the GA criteria. As you're a significant contributor, I thought you might be interested, and might want to keep an eye open for when the review opens. SilkTork ✔Tea time 21:29, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:MaryWells.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:MaryWells.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:07, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Non-free content policy and guidelines
Please do not place or replace any non-free images to any pages except for actual articles, as you did at Book:Marvin Gaye. Such use is a clear violation of point number 9 of our policy concerning the use of non-free images. Continuing to do so can be viewed as disruptive behaviour and you may be blocked from editing. Hey BrothaTimothy, just letting you know that List of tributes to Marvin Gaye was listed twice in Book:Marvin Gaye, so I took the duplicate out; also, any idea on Anna's real birthdate? Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 23:53, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
