ITN recognition for Frank Biondi

[edit]

On 26 November 2019, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Frank Biondi, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:09, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for non-binary people

[edit]

To answer this, my understanding that non-binary people are indeed put into the "top-level" categories rather than the male- or female-specific subcategories (that's what I've seen other editors do, or done myself, with e.g. Asia Kate Dillon and Rain Dove and some others), and hence your latest edit putting Mongillo back in Category:American voice actors) is correct. :) -sche (talk) 21:20, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

message from a pedant

[edit]

Hi, when I noticed your recent edit to Awkwafina I noted that a few catchwords crept in there, that IMHO should be avoided. I then had nothing better to do than to look at some of your recent edits and noted a bit of a pattern - maybe if you look at my changes you get my point: [1][2][3][4][5]. I don't even know how to define it, maybe a slight "recentism", without which some of your contributions could be even better? Have a nice day, Seelefant (talk) 07:09, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:San Francisco Art Commission Logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:San Francisco Art Commission Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:15, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with the article on Norman Yee! You edit really quickly, and made some really valuable contributions in finding sources.

Timothy DeLaGhetto

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed that you reverted my edit on Timothy DeLaGhetto, saying the citation I provided doesn't work. In that video, he reads this article and explicitly states that the birth date is incorrect. GOLDIEM J (talk) 07:03, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey GOLDIEM J, feel free to link the video again, maybe it'll work this time. Otherwise, I can't really comment on the nature of your citation. But that also doesn't explain the birth year change either. — BriefEdits (talk) 07:38, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Watch the video from timestamp 1:40 🙂GOLDIEM J (talk) 07:48, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey GOLDIEM J, I've clicked the link from your edit several times already and it always says video unavailable. Please copy a new link and link the video here if you'd like me to review it. — BriefEdits (talk) 08:00, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I feel dumb for not realising what you meant the first time😆😆
Just re did my edit and the citation works for meGOLDIEM J (talk) 08:13, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adande Thorne

[edit]

Hey! So I see you're currently one of the only ones that govern sWooZ1e's (Adande Thorne's) Wikipedia page and frequently revert his year of birth from 1988 to 1980. May you please provide some place where his birth year is given (whether explicitly or through some type of assumption?) I'm very curious on how old he is, thanks!! Jsjsnunya (talk) 22:37, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Jsjsnunya. I'm reverting edits primarily based on the previous talk page discussion and the LA Time citation. They're all available on the Wikipedia article itself. Most recent edits, including yours, attempting to alter the birth date have been unsourced. If you feel like my edits are incorrect or have a source claiming a different date, free to move this discussion to Talk:Adande Thorne, and we could discuss it there. Thanks. — BriefEdits (talk) 22:50, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MKBHD photo deletion

[edit]

Hello BriefEdits I noticed that you placed the MKBHD photo up for a speedy deletion, I disagree with this and I nominated it for a regular deletion (As far as I know this is how to appeal a speedy one, this is my first time appealing a deletion so I apologize if I did it wrong) the discussion page is at Deletion Discussion if you wish to change your argument as I just copied what you labed it as. As I noted in the discussion I found the video by using the Creative Commons filter in youtube search and I could only find that as the way to locate Creative Commons videos. If it was the incorrect way to find a creative commons video do you know of a page/link that explains how. Thanks. Terasail (talk) 22:09, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update:Hello BriefEdits, thanks for the reply on the deletion request. I understand that I made quite an obvious mistake here and I don't think I can revert changing it to a speedy deletion again. However thanks for explaining where it marks the licencing on videos.Terasail (talk) 22:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey Terasail, don't sweat it, we all make mistakes sometimes. You can just say that you revoke your nomination within the deletion request page and that should speed things up once an admin gets around to looking at it. And, if anything, YouTube should fix their search results because it always gives me false hope whenever I go looking for images to upload haha. — BriefEdits (talk) 22:37, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

City Lights Bookstore / shortdesc helper duplicate edit

[edit]

Oops! I didn't even realize that the shortdesc helper tool could do something like that. It was behaving really strangely, in a way that I had never seen before – and I've added or edited a lot of short descriptions using it.

It didn't look like anything had happened the first time, and I saw no indication of any network activity from my browser, so I clicked the Import button a second time, at which time the tool worked as expected.

So in short, the duplicate edit was completely unintentional, and your revert is a good reminder to me that I should check the history after something weird like that happens!

Thanks! 1980fast (talk) 23:24, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:49, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mircea Dincă image and thank you!

[edit]
The National Science Foundation selects MIT chemistry professor Mircea Dincă as the 2016 winner of the 40th anniversary Alan T. Waterman Award.

Thanks for catching that YouTube copycat, that was embarrassing, I'm normally much better at spotting those. As gratitude, I found an image for an article you wrote. I see you had some chemical diagrams there, which I didn't know how you'd like to arrange, but you probably want to move them around somewhere now. Anyway, hope you like! --GRuban (talk) 22:14, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Patel

[edit]

Hello BriefEdits I noticed that you placed a speedy deletion on Kevin Patel, I disagree with this and I nominated it for acceptance. This article has already been since May 6, 2021. I have just added further details and citations. Please let me know what problems you see with this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RiverSideSong (talkcontribs)

  • @RiverSideSong: Once an article has been nominated for deletion, you have to keep the nomination template on the page regardless of how you feel about the quality of the article as long as the nomination is open and ongoing. A nomination does not mean that the article will be deleted. If you have any questions about why the article is nominated, please refer to the nomination page instead of removing the template. — BriefEdits (talk) 02:32, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • @RiverSideSong: I did not nominate the article. I am merely reinstating the template that leads to the nomination page wherein people can discuss about the matter. It is against policy to remove that template as long as the process is live, which you have done. — BriefEdits (talk) 02:49, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent deletion

[edit]

Can you actually tell me why you deleted my edit instead of referring me to a wiki page?

I referenced my contribution with a source to someone who is a university graduate in philosophy. Andrewjohnroy (talk) 04:28, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Andrewjohnroy: "Content from websites whose content is largely user-generated is generally unacceptable" perWP:RSOPINION and "Never use self-published books, zines, websites, webforums, blogs and tweets as a source for material about a living person" per WP:USERGENERATED. Sources from YouTube, Twitter, etc. should generally be avoided unless directly created by the subject because there is generally a lack of editorial oversight. Anybody can have an opinion about anything on any forum but that doesn't mean it warrants an inclusion on Wikipedia. See WP:SOURCE for a summary of qualities you should look for in sources—with the primary examples being scholarly journals, reputable newspapers, or academic textbooks. With regard to opinion pieces, it's only fair to include commentary from figures that are notable or are published by reputable publications. (even then, you have to see if the commentary adds anything to the article but that's a somewhat different discussion) — BriefEdits (talk) 05:13, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you are not a named party, but you should be aware of the concurrent discussion involving this article over at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#JuJu_Chan. Cheers, --SVTCobra 00:04, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Endorsement Box for SF School Board Recall

[edit]

More endorsements for and against the recall are listed in the Alison Collins page, but I am not sure how to import them here efficiently. In particular, the editing window there seems to be quite small. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scribe252 (talkcontribs) 19:04, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quotations from Brown and Glover

[edit]

Both quotations add up to only 9 words. I think that it is pretty efficient use of space to provide more context, and point out the specific reasons that these individuals had. At least, the reference to the Washington Post article should be kept. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scribe252 (talkcontribs) 14:28, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Olly Sholotan moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Olly Sholotan, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — YoungForever(talk) 17:46, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Peakboy image

[edit]

Add the image manually. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 20:40, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

? Not really sure what you're talking about but I have removed the unnecessary stuff in the infobox that I missed at first. BriefEdits (talk) 20:43, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You have to be careful using the Visual editor as it can make unnecessary changes in the article. Example is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Peakboy&diff=1100224879&oldid=1100224428&diffmode=source Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 20:45, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to undo your edit and add it manually. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 20:47, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You could've just done that to begin with instead of reverting because I'm really not sure what you're talking about. (Your edit summaries never specified). BriefEdits (talk) 20:50, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I still would've had to undo your edit, as it messed up the article. I just added the image by the source editing version. Everything has been fixed now. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 20:53, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So is the only problem the death date and place parameters that was autogenerated? I see no problem outside of that. BriefEdits (talk) 21:00, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
