[edit]Hello, BriannynStauffer, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. [edit]I moved your draft back to your sandbox because it wasn't ready for mainspace. For starters, instead of creating a new article you should probably focus on improving the "Influence" section of the Jeffersonian_architecture article.
Beyond that, there are a few problems with your draft. For starters, it appears that the same content appears twice on your page. It is important to copyedit your work before you move it into mainspace to make sure mistakes like this have been corrected.
Your draft has no inline citations, which makes it difficult for readers to verify factual statements in your article. Every statement should be followed by a supporting citation; if a group of sentences are all supported by the same source, you can place a single reference after all of them, but you need to have at least one reference per paragraph, and you shouldn't have any statements after the final reference in a paragraph. If you need a refresher on how to add citations, please consult this training module.
Wikipedia articles shouldn't use the first or second person like you did when you said You will find this building...
. You are just supposed to report what reliable sources say about a topic, not talk directly to your readers. And on the topic of reliable sources, I don't think Khan Academy is an appropriate source to use in a Wikipedia article. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:44, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, and thank you for the tips, is there a way I can add my article to an existing one instead of publishing my own? BriannynStauffer (talk) 22:50, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi there, like Ian mentioned above, you are able to edit existing articles with your contribution to improve that article. Check out the training module, "Moving work out of sandbox" that explains exactly how to do that. Before moving your work, be sure to implement Ian's feedback on copyediting, tone, inline citations, and reliable sources. Wish you the best on your Wiki Contributions!
