The Buffalo Police Department is the second largest police force in the state of New York. In 2012 they had over 900 policing employees, and over 700 police officers. The only force with more officers are the New York City Police Department.[1]
The Buffalo Police have a goal oriented mission statement to "improve the quality of life in the City of Buffalo." involving Respect, Integrity, and Excellence.
Buffalo Police Department has five total districts they divide the city into, A District, B District, C District, D District, and E District. Each District has a certain area of Buffalo they are responsible for and have one to two captains, each with a different chief. Chief of A district is Thomas Moran, B district Chief is Joseph Gramaglia, C district Chief is Barbara Lark, D district Chief is Anthony Barba, and E district Chief is Carmen Menza.
Buffalo Police Department is very community involved and offer many different points of view for certain law enforcement questions.
