User namespace transclusion in articles

Please remove the links to User:Brian New Zealand/Temp/info/bottom from articles. Articles should link to user namespace. For templates, there is the template namespace. The easiest way to fix it, would be to move your user page to Template:Infobox Taupo bottom and update the links.

Help:Template gives an overview of ways to create templates, Wikipedia:Infobox templates lists a few infobox that may be good samples for New Zealand.

Please check if the infobox provides information specific to the articles it's being used in. For lakes, there is a specific infobox: Template:Infobox Lake. You may want to use that one on Lake Taupo and Lake Rotoaira rather one that seems to be made for articles about towns and cities (without any parameters, yours is for Taupo only though). If an infobox is used only in one article, it's not necessary to place it in template namespace. -- User:Docu

New Zealand Collaboration of the Fortnight

Shouldn't you be declaring a new Collaboration topic today? I'm happy to enforce the minimum votes per fortnight criteria if you declare the new topic each fortnight.-gadfium 09:47, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

I made some edits to the khatri article twice but they were reverted both times by Moderator3000. One was correcting a link to surname called Seth. The other was about Walias (which I linked) also being also called Ahluwalias.

Both these modifications are valid but they are being reverted both the times. I don't know if Moderator3000 is an official moderator of Wikipedia or is just doing what he seems fit.

Helen Clark

I have removed the POV-check tag and instead put a section expand tag on the achievements section. --Midnighttonight 07:40, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Blog...

Hi Brian. I've just found your 'New Zealand Monarchy' blog. Very interesting. I love debating this issue and look forward to doing so with someone who doesn't resort to name-calling. --Lholden 03:27, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

I've had a read too. You should edit your template coding a bit better though. At the moment when use the Google autoreadfinder for a website, yours comes up with Mr Holden's blog. I suppose that's what happens when you steal his template! Anyway, you need to edit it, the info on feeds should be somewhere in the meta data. Your blog feed is http://nzmonarchist.blogspot.com/atom.xml if you need to know. Also, I would link to it on your sidebar as well. It's a good blog to read, although I disagree with it! --Midnighttonight 02:51, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:10, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

where is voting taking place for the tie? Will another section be added onto the page or will it be done on the talk page? --Midnighttonight 08:13, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

I've set it up at Wikipedia:New Zealand Collaboration of the Fortnight#Tie breaker vote --Midnighttonight 08:29, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Treaty of Waitangi Greivance Industry article

The primary author of this article has responded by reverting the edits I made, and adding more POV. I will dispute the neutrality of the article. --Lholden 22:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Current Events Oz & NZ

Hi Brian New Zealand

I see that you have made a recent addition to Current Events Australia and New Zealand (now Current events in Oceania). Thanks for that. Also, I thought that you might be interested in this as someone who is working on WikiNews.

In my work, I help to produce the Austral Peace and Security Network report (APSNet), a bi-weekly roundup of security news for Australia and the surrounding area. You might find it a useful source for the occasional post to Current Events in Australia and New Zealand.

There is an archive of 2006 APSNet issues, and a page for free e-mail subscription, if you think that it would be useful.

My apologies in advance if you feel that this is inappropriate in any way. -- Jonathan O'Donnell 01:16, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
