File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Ksenia Kirillova wimbledon 2009 junior singles.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 16:56, 4 March 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 16:56, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from File:Ksenia Kirillova wimbledon 2009 junior singles.jpg, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 17:09, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Valeria Solovieva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- Boing! said Zebedee 17:43, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Valeria Solovieva

[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Valeria Solovieva. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 17:57, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Valeria Solovieva. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 17:58, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove all content from pages without explanation, as you did to the page Valeria Solovieva. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Leuqarte (talk) 18:00, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your final warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Valeria Solovieva. Alansohn (talk) 19:50, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ksenia Kirillova has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

1010th in the world isn't enough to pass WP:ATHLETE.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 19:57, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Ksenia Kirillova, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ksenia Kirillova. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Bradjamesbrown (talk) 20:23, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Ksenia Kirillova. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Mysdaao talk 14:07, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Ksenia Kirillova. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of a week as a result of your disruptive edits. Please be aware that if your disruptive editing (such as removing deletion templates) continues after this block expires, you will be blocked indefinitely. waggers (talk) 14:52, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Valeria Solovieva at French Open 2009.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

A tag has been placed on Valeria Solovieva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Tips on referencing

[edit]

There are lots of ways to do this, some are simple, some more complex.

Personally, I like using citation templates, and fill in as much as I possibly can; maybe a bit more work, but I think it looks better. You have a <REF> at the start, then a suitable cite tag, then </REF>. An example usage is;

<ref>
{{Citation
 | last = Preston
 | first = Peter
 | title = D. H. Lawrence in the modern world
 | last2 = Hoare
 | first2 = Peter
 | publication-date = 1989
 | place = [[Cambridge]], [England]
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
 | url = http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=J5nRoaOwkPMC&printsec=frontcover#PPA125,M1
 | accessdate = 2008-05-11
}}
</ref>

For all the possible things to include, see Template:Citation

Of course, you don't have to put everything in, just whatever you can. The above example is a book, but I've included a 'convenience link' to a website that displays it.

Then, at the end of the document (but before any 'category' tags), you need a references section. You just put,

== References ==

{{reflist}}

Hard work? - help is at hand. There are lots of tools that create cite tags automagically. Personally, I would recommend the Reference generator.

I also recommend you look at other articles and copy from them - especially featured articles, which should have good refs.

Hope this help, cheers, Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 12:12, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
