Name

Hello. Besides some very particular and strictly technical uses, such as "which type of seed?" "Rape", the word rape is an unpleasant word. It is an old word, and generally for millennia has been a violent word. To rape has always basically meant to take violently. Today it almost exclusively refers to a particular sort of violent taking. Accordingly I am not sure that "Brainrape" is suitable for a community which values and is based on cooperation and consent. I am not a figure of authority, but I recommend changing your name. You will inevitably offend people and attract hostility otherwise. Untitled50reg (talk) 14:55, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your considered comment. I completely condemn violence and exploitation, sexual or otherwise. Upon reviewing the WP:Username_Policy, I found that it is not entirely clear whether the section on Disruptive or offensive usernames applies, but the section Guidance for new users contains an infobox according to which this account may be immediately blocked, on grounds of the username reasonably fitting the description of "violent" or "explicitly sexual". I have great respect for and gratitude to the community and have no wish to cause harm or disruption, or waste anyone's time (including renaming the account or discussing the finer points of offense).
