Some editing tips
[edit]Hello. I've noticed your work on Seattle City Councilmembers articles and wanted to say that you're doing great work so far. I have a few pieces of advice that can help make these articles even better:
- Be mindful of capitalization, especially for "primary election" and "general election"
- Citations should use the work/newspaper field for the appropriate publications
- Don't create too many short sections when a subsection can be used instead
- Articles on subjects closely related to the United States should use the MDY date format
Cheers, SounderBruce 05:19, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tips. Do you mind explaining the last two bullet points some more. Would an example be instead of having a short section for each election, just put them all into one larger section.
- I'm still trying to learn about editing and making pages, but sometime I just use codes that I see work on other pages as a base. I'm using a lot of the smaller (and maybe less consequential) councilmembers before I work on bigger pages. Bpuddin (talk) 06:44, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- MOS:OVERSECTION covers the third point and MOS:DATE covers the fourth. SounderBruce 05:08, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- I think something that has been confusing for me is that people are putting different date formats when they are editing articles of mine, and its hard for me to know what is correct. Bpuddin (talk) 17:39, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- MOS:OVERSECTION covers the third point and MOS:DATE covers the fourth. SounderBruce 05:08, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
Women in Red
[edit]Hi there, Bpuddin, and welcome to Women in Red. Thanks for creating and improving so many biographies of politicians, including many of women. I've been looking through them and see that nearly all of them deserve a rating of C class or higher. In connection with further work on women's biographies, you might find it useful to look at some of the tips in our Primer. If you would like others to see your interest in the project, you can sing up under "New registrations" on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/New members. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 07:21, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Ipigott! I really appreciate going through and rating my articles, and for the useful tips. Would you say there is any glaring mistakes or problems in the biographys? Bpuddin (talk) 04:54, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- There are certainly no glaring mistakes. All your articles appear to be well sourced, presenting key information about the people you cover. If you want to make sure I answer your queries, remember to ping me. Happy editing.--Ipigott (talk) 08:35, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Templating
[edit]When creating new pages, please use Template:Birth date and age, Template:Birth year and age (for living people), and Template:Birth year + Template:Death date and age or Template:Death year and age (for dead people). Use the templates in infoboxes so people can see the age of people. Roasted (talk) 02:32, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the links Roasted. I'll make sure to do this in the future. Bpuddin (talk) 03:23, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
