IPA templates

[edit]

Hi,

Just to let you know, we now have IPA templates that link to pronunciation keys that are more accessible than the main IPA article. They are explained at {{IPA}}. kwami 23:07, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Visa Free List

[edit]

Hi how are you, im Hungarian, and as they say, polak wenger, da bratanki, idossavli idosklanki, hahahaha I think they write it like that, im sure they dont but well i hope you understand. I have a favour to ask you, I saw the great job you did with the polish passport, visa-free travel list, you added the map and everything so great. Now I would like to request if you could do the same with the hungarian visa free list. I hope you can do it cause i dont know how to use the editting tool do well as you do, so please I got you a source where it says where can Hungarian citizens enter without a visa,http://mfa.gov.hu/kum/en/bal/consular_services/Entry_of_Foreiners_to_Hungary/visa_exemption/. So please if you could, thank you very much, jinkuie --Philip200291 (talk) 20:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

wow thank you so much, I was following your steps as you did the editing, i really really apreciate you did that, bye bye, great work--Philip200291 (talk) 16:23, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, I just saw that the government page I gave you, is a little bit outdated, so there are some corrections I would like you to consider. Bolivia now granted visa free to all passports, not only Diplomatic and Service ones. Kyrgzyzstan and Seychelles have visa free to tourists only, so that would be visa free subject to provisions.I would like you to change that when you have a little time, thank you.--Philip200291 (talk) 16:15, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again me, hahaha, I should really learn how to change those maps hahahaha. As you have noticed, Canada lifted visas to Poles, Hungarians, Slovaks and Lithuanians today, I would again request you to update the map of Hungary as the one of poland has already been changed. I really apretiate you kindness. Thanks--Philip200291 (talk) 21:37, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interlingual Wikipedia

[edit]

Witam!
Pozdrawiam!

eVisitor Australia- EU

[edit]

Thanks for your reply. I was asking if it could be coloured in because the non eVisitor Eligible Passports e.g. non EU or ETA European Passports like the US, Canada have their maps coloured in, its seems unfair given its exactly the same process for EU and ETA Eligible European Passports but they have eVisitor instead of ETA (Electronic Ticket Authority). I think it should be added.

I understand what you mean by it requires pre arrival actions and it does.Pryde 01 (talk) 10:42, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Coat_of_arms_of_Australia.svg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Coat_of_arms_of_Australia.svg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:44, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The file is over 10 MB, and can cause huge waste of bandwidth: browsers can completely jam for several minutes if the file is displayed at full size. This problem has been discussed at length on the Graphic Lab talk page A much smaller file showing the same coat of arms exists (Australian_Coat_of_Arms.png), and all pages which used the large file have had their links changed to use the smaller one, so the large file is completely redundant. It has therefore been proposed for deletion.

First of all - is it your regular policy do discuss here the deletion of files that are hosted on Commons? If you want to delete it, start a usual deletion procedure on Commons. Secondly, if you don't like the file, don't use it. Why would you delete it? Are we running out of space on the servers or what? Also, remember that you always have the option of creating a better SVG file and overwrite the one that is already there - I agree that mine isn't perfect. --Botev (talk) 14:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Of course it isn't regular policy to discuss here the deletion of files that are hosted on Commons: it was an error, based on not realising that it was hosted on Commons.
  2. "If you don't like the file, don't use it": problem is that others may use it.
  3. "Are we running out of space on the servers or what?" It is not a question of what happens to the servers: it is a question of what happens when the file is downloaded: I have seen a browser completely jammed, unable to render any pages at all, for several minutes because of an attempt to display this file at full size. This may seem like an extreme case, but excessive use of bandwidth can often cause problems, and the problem I have referred to was on an ADSL connection: I hate to think how much of a nuisance it might be on a dial-up connection.
