leave "Brad Hines" entry alone

[edit]

Hi,

I am new to wikipedia. Excuse me for not really getting this. Anyway, I was told earlier that I just needed to fix some things on the entry and it would be acceptable, unfortunatley I do not know who said this. If you are the one who puts it up, kind remove the notice at the top of the entry.

kindly,

Utz.--Utzchips 02:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

not a sock puppet, please remove

[edit]

Just because I made an edit in support of the Brad Hines page, doesn't make me the same person as the author.Mjsenih 03:28, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

simple

[edit]

Sure. First of all I wouldn't quite say I'm involved in any conflict. You'll see I edited the page once and then went on with life, and other than that there is no other evidence that I have ever edited any pages that have been edited by utzchips.

The answer to your question is incredibly simple. I logged on and edited the Brad Hines page because I know Brad Hines, and I'm sure he'd like to see his page stay up. In fact if you look carefully at my name, you'll see the word "hines" in there. I am related to, but am not Brad Hines, and I don't feel I need to give any further personal information out. This does not in any way make the sock puppet of utzchips, which you claim, based on, I would argue, an incredibly scant body of evidence. If you look carefully, utzchips doesn't have much of a history of edits, where as my edits, though few, go back in time.

I almost never use wikipedia, but when I do, I don't want my contributions being labled as those of a sock puppet. Please remove at your earliest convenience. Mjsenih 03:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A cousin of mine in the Hines family sent me an instant message that the Brad Hines page was being nominated for deletion. Your questions are now bordering on getting too personal. These usernames are meant to leave this an anonymous space.

If this is going to continue to be a problem, I ask that you have a wikipedia Bureaucrat investigate as to whether or not my IP address has ever matched that of Utzchips. He or she will quickly find that there is no connection.

I am going to take down your claim that I am a sock puppet now - which will be my second revert today, and I know I cannot make a third. Please don't make me come back here tomorrow to do it again. Feel free to watch all my contributions to wikipedia if you'd like. They are rare though, and I don't intend to edit the Brad Hines page beyond this point because it would seem you are going to jump to conclusions if I did. Boston,

It was already decided earlier by admins that this is not an autobiography. Please look at the entry for Mark Zuckerberg or Bob Parsons to see a similar valid entry. Thank you kindly.

Domaining Sock Puppetry

[edit]

Hey, Boston - some of the same Utzchips sock puppets that showed up on the Brad Hines AfD now also seem to be on the Domaining article. I'll keep an eye on it - can you watch it, too? Thanks.--TheOtherBob 13:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sockpuppetry notice

[edit]

So when can I take the notice down?

sockpuppetry

[edit]

Ok, Nov 12 then. Though that seems silly. The matter is settled and they've blocked my other account indefinitely. I'm pretty aggrivated since I didn't break any rules with the other account.

The rules that you broke with the sockpuppet account are:
  • sock puppets may not be used to give the impression of more support for a viewpoint. This includes ... using more than one account in a discussion at ... Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, ..., or on talk pages.
  • Multiple accounts should not be used as a way of avoiding the scrutiny of your fellow editors by ensuring you leave no audit trail.
  • All users, ... are proscribed from operating a "bad hand" account for the purpose of policy violations or disruption.
You used a "good hand" account to make safe edits, then used your "bad hand" account to remove an AfD tag.
You stated an untruth with your alternate account in this comment
"I categorically deny that I am a sock puppet or meat puppet of utzchips, or any other wikipedian." (emphasis added)
I hope that you will reflect on these issues so that you may improve as an editor of Wikipedia. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 15:59, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brad Hines sockpuppets

[edit]

Greetings. The checkuser request could be done under "D", if the vote affected the outcome, but I see the case has been closed and the article has been deleted. You could copy your evidence page to RFCU anyway, just to get the socks outed and blocked, but honestly it might not be worth the trouble, and the clerk might just reject the case since the vote is closed. Sockpuppets made expressly to vote in an AFD almost never are used again (at least I rarely see them--any account whose first vote is on an AFD, is, in my opinion, 100% sockpuppet).

Hope this helps. If you see anyone recreate Brad Hines or something like it, let me know and I'll just delete/block. Antandrus (talk) 02:33, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I walk away from my computer and think about it some more, and come back ... this might be an issue for more community discussion. Should we expand criterion "D" to include one-off sockpuppets for a vote, after the fact? Maybe you should post the question on the talk page for WP:RFCU. I'm not sure anyone has ever asked it before. A community policy of outing them might be a good idea. Antandrus (talk) 02:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
