Although some prefer welcoming new users with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Bossdude777, and welcome to Wikipedia! I am Sam Sailor and I would like to thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Do's and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't vandalize
  Don't get blocked

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun! To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

If you need further help, you can:

  Ask a question

or even:

Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, place {{helpme}} on your talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Again, welcome,  and happy editing!

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Slipknot (band) are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. -- Sam Sing! 14:31, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Cannibal Corpse. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism. Thank you. —George8211 / T 15:37, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to George Fisher (musician), have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page.

Bossdude, changes to genres is a really hot area to venture into. I urge you to open a discussion on the article talk pages in each and every case. Please leave me a message here so I know you understand this. Thanks, -- Sam Sing! 15:44, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Corey Taylor. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- Sam Sing! 15:47, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

Genres

[edit]

Hi again, Bossdude.

If you start a new topic on a talk page, you do it by starting a new section. Don't worry, all these pesky details you can learn as you go along.

To answer your question: I have no clue about what genres best describe Slipknot. I haven't ever heard them. I know their hallmark is that they wear masks, but that I only know because I once got the question in a TP-like knowledge game. So there you have my Slipknot ignorance! :)

But when it come to genres, you just have to take my word on it: you are better off opening a discussion in each case. We very often see people come and change genres, but genres have often been subject to long prior discussions based on what genres sources apply. So changes might cause some grief with established editors. Are you with me?

Stop icon This is your last warning. You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Zain Javed Malik. —Frosty 06:34, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
