user rename

Hi. How've you been? I hope you are doing well.
There was a user Bobert (talk · contribs · count) 15 years ago. He has total of 23 edits. Do you think another experienced, and active editor could get renamed as Bobert? —usernamekiran(talk) 12:28, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

I'm well, thanks, hope you are too. Since I've given up the admin mop I no longer do renames. That does sound like one that might be open to usurping, but you'd need to check across all Wikimedia projects first. Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations looks like the place to go. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
I am good too, thanks. Yes, I frequent WP:BN, so I was aware about the admin status. But you still have the knowledge as I suspected Thanks for the tip. See you around :) —usernamekiran(talk) 19:31, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Arbitration case opened

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Kudpung. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Kudpung/Evidence. Please add your evidence by January 28, 2020, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Kudpung/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. For the Arbitration Committee, CodeLyokotalk 05:07, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks

I really can't figure out what I did there - thought I was adding a one-line comment! Deb (talk) 09:23, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Hehe, I've done similar things so many times myself. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:39, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

February 2020

An arbitration case regarding User:Alex Shih has now closed. The Arbitration Committee resolved by motion last year to suspend the case, which could be unsuspended if Alex Shih requested it within one year. Because Alex Shih has not requested the case be unsuspended, the case has been automatically closed. The motion which has now closed the case is Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Alex Shih#Motion to Suspend.

Break

For talk page followers: For some time now, I've been making no real contributions to Wikipedia, and I've only been hanging around and offering the odd (largely pointless) opinion here and there. The extent of my dissatisfaction with the way Wikipedia governance is going seems to grow ever longer too.
Since I downed my admin tools last year, I've been far more productive in more meaningful areas of my life (which makes me wish I'd done it sooner), and it's time to take that further.
I don't like to say never, so I won't formally retire, but I'll just go for "On a break". I'm logging out and won't get notifications, but I might pop in here from time to time (just to see what a mess you're all making of the place ;-).
Be well, be happy. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:47, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

February
... with thanks from QAI
Please don't forget that there are people here whom your presence makes happier than your absence. Count me as one. Best wishes. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:56, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
ps: Today's Alte Liebe became especially meaningful after yesterday's funeral. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:12, 28 February 2020 (UTC)...

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

Mentioned

Hi Boing. I mentioned you at AE, quoting a comment you made in early 2019 on a previous ban appeal by the same editor. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 16:29, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Yay :-)

I know it is a temporary return, but it still makes me happy! --bonadea contributions talk 19:17, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Me too! MarnetteD|Talk 19:18, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
Glad to see you back, Boing :) Patient Zerotalk 19:24, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Welcome back Boing! said Zebedee. I have restored your adminship. I'm tempted to link to Jasper Carrot's leak of the script for your new series. But I just can't cope with hearing your name without remembering and acting on your catch phrase. ϢereSpielChequers 19:38, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for stepping in! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:14, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
  • welcome back friend, temporarily. But I think the entire globe needs to be under a strict lock-down at the same time for at least 30 days. Otherwise it will just keep on increasing. —usernamekiran (talk) 05:20, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Don't know your predisposition towards coffee but have one on me. We are all hands on deck on Wikipedia this month it seems. qedk (t c) 13:39, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Mmm, you've just put me in the mood to brew up a pot :-) Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:10, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Don't remember the last time I took the kettle off. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ --qedk (t c) 15:26, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Missed the point

Did you want to elucidate a bit for me? I obviously sympathize with your position on the matter, while now being better placed to actually effect changes to the way that department operates. Feel free to let me know what other changes you'd like to see from their side. Email is available, if desired. –xenotalk 13:51, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

I think the point they missed is that it wasn't about what tool they used, but that they shouldn't have been usurping en.wiki community/ArbCom authority at all. And they really said nothing about not doing that again. But, really, I'm not interested in wasting time on a pointless quest to fix any of the problems I see with the T&S/WMF mindset - I'm just here to help during the current crisis, and then I'll be moving on to real life again as soon as we're back to normal. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:58, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. We appreciate the interim assistance. Certainly there's a lot more activity with the self-isolation going on. –xenotalk 14:48, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
