Dear Boffin, why did you remove the Queens reference in President of Malta? Sounds to me like valuable information. Cheers, Muriel Gottrop 12:20, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Howdy. From the history list of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, it looks like you first put in the flag image, and then took it out again. I'm guessing you took it out because it didn't look right (it seem to float in an unfortunate place in the middle of the screen). If you want, I think I can put it back with markup that won't make it appear in such an bad place - I'd do it myself, but I wanted to check with you first. Thanks. -- Finlay McWalter 17:13, 9 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Ah, I see you put it back in (doing just what I was going to). It looks good. THanks. -- Finlay McWalter 17:59, 9 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Hi Boffin. You're doing some good work on South African topics. Are you South African by any chance? Greenman 12 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Hi Boffin. Some recent useful work on Vauxhall Motors and related articles, but please can you take more care to avoid deleting large sections of the article? I presume this was by mistake. Currently the entire list of models and the related articles - in fact everything from your last edited paragraph downwards - has disappeared. Unfortunately quickly reinserting all of this is quite difficult since I don't have sysop status and hence a "revert" button. Doing is all by hand is about half an hours work. Also, I added a comment about the Opel/Vauxhall models in the 70s, while closesly related I don't think they are the same car. Only in the 80s did the cars become directly identical with the same engines, body styles, etc. I think the article should correct this. GRAHAMUK 02:28, 22 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Hello. Do you know that you're using too many capital letters in article titles? I moved three of your new articles, including Place Names in Irish. In Wikipedia article titles, one does not normally use capitals except with proper names or other particular reasons for capitalization. The first letter is case-insensitive in links and always appears as capital on the article's page; the others are case-sensitive. Michael Hardy 01:54, 24 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Also, any chance you could annotate your edits? It only takes a sec and helps others to track what's changed far more easily. I notice that you almost never annotate any edits (see your contribution list - they are 99% unannotated). GRAHAMUK 05:52, 24 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Modern literature in Irish
[edit]Hi Boffin, that's a very interesting article. I have put in a link to the general Irish literature page, which Bmills and I have been trying to knock into shape this last week. Any chance you could pick up the need for new main articles on Irish theatre and Irish fiction, to match the excellent one on Irish poetry that Bmills has put together? seglea 06:51, 24 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Metropolitan counties
[edit]Hi. I'm reverting your change to Subdivions of England, as the abolition of a county council is not the same thing as the abolition of the county. Only the former step was taken, and in law, Merseyside exists, as does Berkshire (but in contrast to Humberside, which was indeed abolished). If you like, I can find you legislation referring to them as current entities, for example, areas have been transferred between Nottinghamshire, and South Yorkshire after South Yorkshire was supposedly abolished... Some images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading Image:Lexcenvn.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you please add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) Thanks so much, – Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 03:23, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)

Unverified images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 04:55, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)
P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Image:Blueensign.png has been listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file you uploaded, Image:Blueensign.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. |
The Image"UK Royal Coat of Arms.png", which you uploaded, has no license. I know you don't need licenses in the English Wikipedia (fair use, whatever that is, is allowed) but for other Wikipedia, e.g. the German, it is neccesary (we're only allowed there to upload images in the public domain, under Creative Commons License, where commercial use is allowed, or, the best of all, GNU-FDL). It would be really nice of you to add your license. Otherwise we'll have to delete the same image in the German Wikipedia (see here) and an image of the Canadian Coat of arms, made of your image (see here). --Hun2 13:32, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Unspecified source for Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fibonacci 05:26, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
Replaceable fair use disputed
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peter O. (Talk) 19:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Guernsey_Coat_of_Arms.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Guernsey_Coat_of_Arms.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image source problem with Image:Governor General Union of SA 1910 Flag.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Governor General Union of SA 1910 Flag.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:38, 11 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Himasaram 09:38, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:UK Royal Coat of Arms.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Governor General Union of SA 1931 Flag.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Governor General Union of SA 1931 Flag.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article List of Irish words used in the English language has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unencyclopedic and unsourced list of words. Fails WP:V, WP:LISTN and WP:NOTDIR, tagged for notability since 2011.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. buidhe 00:53, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
