Wikipedia format on SDA history

[edit]

You added some info on the SDA history section, but you need to put the sources in the proper format. Look at how sources are done in the rest of the article and fix your references to match. Ibid. is not used on Wikipedia. 8een4Tfor (talk) 04:12, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia

[edit]

Hey Bob,

Good to see a familiar face from the forums, Maritime and Christian Forums. We certainly need your input here in Wikipedia on the SDA topics as they need plenty of work. Let me know if you need anything or if I can help on any of the issues in wiki.

God Bless Reddogs

Thanks - good to see you here as well! Not sure how to reply to these messages though. Do you get this or do I need to postit on your user talk?BobRyan777 (talk) 04:25, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can post it on my usertalk in Simbagraphix http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Simbagraphix, but I checked my last few posts by looking in 'My contributions' link and saw your reply. There is much work to do in Wiki and you have to take it slowly or its just too much. I am working on Seventh-day Adventist theology and eschatology issues, but let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you or if any questions I can help you with. Again, Welcome..Simbagraphix (talk) 01:32, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also went ahead and created your userpage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:BobRyan777 (hope you dont mind the help) and put in the following project since I saw you working on it: Current Projects

Thanks! BobRyan777 (talk) 17:30, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

[edit]

You appear to be edit warring to introduce unsourced changes to the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District article. Please stop, and be aware of the "3 revert rule" which requires you to stop edit warring or risk being blocked. The way forward is for you to present properly sourced proposals on the article talk page as set out on WP:TALK and seek consensus before making changes. This more constructive approach will be appreciated, dave souza, talk 15:10, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

David "the source" for the facts being summarized at the top of the article is the statements already present in the wiki article itself. You are warring against the article itself in your mission to make sure that the details already in the article are not mentioned in the open paragraph. That is kind of odd since these details are already in the article. Clearly you have strong feelings about the topic which is fine. My argument is not to point to this or that view as wrong. I simply argue that to mislead the reader by deleting facts from the opening paragraph already accepted as fact in the article is not logical except that it makes those facts more difficult for the casual reader to discover. As for your 3 reverts of the text. Well apparently you are willing to take that risk due to your strong feelings. I prefer facts over feelings when it comes to wiki articles. I am funny that way ;) BobRyan777 (talk) 23:51, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please confine your discussion of the article on the article talk page. The message dave souza left above is a warning that you are about to violate the 3RR rule, a blockable offense. It is merely a courtesy notice so that you will be aware you are close to breaking policy. Please do not confuse the issue of policy violation with anyone having any particular feeling about the article or its content. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 22:56, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The edit warring that Dave is engaged in at that article is glaringly obvious to the objective unbiased reader that sees his constant efforts to delete objective facts from the opening paragraph that are already admitted to in the body of the article and in some of his own comments on the talk page. I cannot explain why is edit warring is being promoted when the only facts he is deleting are those facts already present in the article itself. This may explain why that article is at the "B" level still.

Thank you

Thanks for your recent contributions! -Mike Restivo (talk) 19:35, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mike you are very welcome. Some evolutionists seem to be edit warring over at the Dover trial thread making emotional claims that they need to delete data from the opening paragraph ( I think the latest count is 3 times deleting data they already admit to being valid) even though they already admit to that same data in the text of the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitzmiller_v._Dover_Area_School_District - Oh well... However I am enjoying participation on other topic areas where such edit warring is not being promoted. BobRyan777 (talk) 14:05, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Society of Jesus

[edit]

Bob, I'm sure you'll see the edit that follows your most recent edit at Society of Jesus. It is here: [1]. When you get a chance, could you look at what is left after the removal of the quote, at the end of the second paragraph in the lede/lead. It says, "Ignatius's plan of the order's organization was approved by Pope Paul III in 1540 by a bull containing the "Formula of the Institute," as described below." You seem to be more familiar with this topic than I am. I could do it, but it would take me a while (even though I read through the entire article about two weeks ago). Because this sentence ends, "as described below", it is important to be sure that it is described somewhere in the article, and that the removal of the quote did not create a situation where this sentence does not fulfill the promise of further description ("as described below"). If you don't know what I mean, or don't feel like, or don't have the time, to do this searching, I'll attempt it at some point. If you do decide to look into this, you have several choices:

  • Revert (undo) the edit and provide an edit summary briefly explaining your reasons. (You might want to read the WP guidelines on what should be in the lede/lead of an article at WP:Manual of Style/Lead section.)
  • Start a discussion on the talk page.
  • Modify the sentence in some way.
  • Leave it as is.

Bob, where are you? Now there have been more edits to the article. Hope you'll review. - CorinneSD (talk) 00:58, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
