[edit]Hello, Bluthng. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Sewage treatment, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Velella Velella Talk 19:19, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- If I may also add that all, or almost all of your edits appear to be promoting Trojan Technologies and/or its UV treatment equipment. This is not acceptable in Wikipedia unless you first make a clear declaration on your user page that you have an interest in the company and its products. At present you seem to have a clear conflict of interest you should not add material relevant to the company or its products. You may however make suggestions on the relevant talk page and invite other editors to add information that you think relevant. If however you continue editing without any regard to the conflict of interest you may well face sanctions. Thank you Velella Velella Talk 19:19, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- With Velella's comments in mind I have reverted your recent edits Sewage Treatment. I haven't issued a formal warning as you have only recently received a message concerning the potential COI. Please take Velella's advice and use the talk page. Thanks Fraggle81 (talk) 20:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Personal Profile update
[edit]Thanks for making the update to your personal profile. That certainly helps a great deal. It does however raise a few other questions and I am sure that if, for example, you held a senior position at Trojan Technologies, then you would wish to disclose that also. Regards Velella Velella Talk 22:24, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
