Just a quick note - you cannot use Wikipedia as a reference, but you can link to other Wikipedia articles by enclosing the article title in double square brackets, so [[Ottershaw School]] renders as Ottershaw School. – ukexpat (talk) 19:04, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please take note of the advice that you are being given here:
- You cannot use other Wikipedia articles as references, see above. I have converted your "references" into a See also list.
- Please used edit summaries to explain your edits, particularly if you are undoing someone else's edit.
- If you need help, please ask, most people here are more than willing to help out if you ask.
- Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 16:38, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- No problem, happy to help. As you will see, I changed the Hansard ref to use the {{Cite web}} template, which is rather esoteric, but it is the first time I have used it! I'll take a look on the Geogrpah Project to see if it has any suitably licensed images that we can use. – ukexpat (talk) 18:21, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- By the way I suggested at Template talk:Schools in Surrey that a section for closed schools be added to the template. – ukexpat (talk) 18:31, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Newspaper references are absolutely OK - there is no requirement that references be available online, just that they are verifiable. The best way to cite a newspaper report is to use the {{Cite news}} template, so you would add this text <ref>{{cite news |title= |first= |last= |newspaper= |date= |url= }}</ref> filling in as many of the details as possible. That produces a reference that someone can easily verify by looking at the archives of the newspaper in question, for example at a library. On the question of images, if they are pictures that you have taken yourself, please upload them to Commons so that they are available for use on all Wikimedia projects. If you go to WP:SUL you can set up unified log-in, so that your Wikipedia account name/password works on Commons too. – ukexpat (talk) 18:53, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- I just changed the names back to last names, per WP:LASTNAME. The standard is to use the full name the first time the person is mentioned, then last name thereafter, unless the first name is required to avoid confusion. – ukexpat (talk) 18:57, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Reference formatting
[edit]Nice work finding some refs. Take a look at my recent edit where I formatted them properly. – ukexpat (talk) 20:01, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
=Where do I go from here
[edit]Thank you for help on this article but what else do I need to do to stop the warning paragraph at the beginning. I thought I hasd provided enough to stop that? Bluejay700 (talk) 07:46, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
