[edit]Dear Kari,
I am responding to the message you left at my talk page, some time ago now. I have been away from Wikipedia, but I see that you have no edits more recent, and so my response might still be useful. You wrote:
- I really am having trouble navigating around the site. I am brand new. My goal is to write an article on Modular Fixturing for Welding and need help doing this. Can you help me get started? I have lots of good source material for the article, I can't seem to figure out how to request to write a new article or to create a sub-category, which I assume this would go under welding as Welding Tables or Modular Fixturing?
- Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

You don't need to request to add a new article. If it's missing from Wikipedia, feel free to go ahead and create it, by simply typing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YOURARTICLENAME into your browser's URL bar and then clicking on "Start the YOURARTICLENAME article" link. Having said that, many new articles get deleted on the grounds that they don't meet Wikipedia's standards. They should be about something which is noteworthy enough to justify an article, should be encyclopedic in style (neutral and authoritative), and should provide references to back up what they say.
For this reason, many editors like to prepare an article in their user space first, before copying it to the main encyclopedia. This allows them time to include references and work on the text without other editors changing it or trying to delete it. As a new user, it would probably be worth learning how to use the Wikipedia markup language - you can experiment at the Sandbox or in your own user space. For example, you could copy the source of a real article into your user space to see how it works. If you copy the source material you mentioned into it, I should be happy to help with formatting and adding references.
