Sometimes I write stories. Here is a few of them.[reply]

Hi Matthew: I read the note you left on the Matthew Manfre page asking for help; you wanted to know how to upload a picture of yourself and put it there. Unfortunately, there is a problem with that; the article won't be around long enough for you to do that, because our rules say we have to delete it, and even if you did manage to do it in time, the photograph would be deleted too. You see, we have a rule here that says that people who are the subject of articles in Wikipedia have to be notable. That means important, or special, or very unusual, or written about a lot in the newspapers. For instance, if you are an athlete -- let's say you play baseball -- you wouldn't be allowed to have an article about yourself in Wikipedia unless you played for a professional baseball team or were playing in the very highest level of amateur competition, like the Little League World Series. I'm not important enough to have an article about me in Wikipedia, and unless you are a movie star or something, it's not likely that you are either. There is a place here where you can put information about yourself -- it's called your "user page" and you can find it at User:Bloochubby. In general, though, it's not a good idea to put photographs of yourself on Wikipedia, or lots of personal information about yourself, like your address and phone number and stuff, especially if you are eleven years old. Your parents could probably explain better than I can, but essentially it would mean that everyone in the world would be able to know what you looked like and stuff, and you would have problems keeping stuff about yourself private in the future. I can see where it would be fun to have a picture of yourself here to show your friends, but unfortunately people who are definitely not your friends might find it too and use it somehow. So although I'm here to help people, I think it's better if I don't teach you how to upload a photograph here. If you have any questions, you can leave me a note by clicking on the word "talk" after my name, and I'll help you if I can. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:20, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Adding and subtracting decimals

[edit]

The article Adding and subtracting decimals has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Par WP:NOTMANUAL. "Submitted by: Copyright© Lisa Williams" seems to suggest the usage of copyrighted content as well.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Adding and subtracting decimals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I have deleted the page ‎Invention Project as outside the scope of Wikipedia. The articles Microphone and Robot already exist, and Wikipedia is not a hosting service. (If you want me to, I may recover the deleted article's text and e-mail it to you.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 17:18, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on NISD Bond requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of NISD Bond, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.molinu.org/nisd_bond.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. TbhotchTalk C. 21:56, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
