- Yes I am an actual person but the nicely styled welcome sheet is a canned wikipedia:template. (There are a heap of them, see Category:Welcome templates, but I prefer this one.)

The hard part of being a Wikipedia "editor" is finding evidence (in the form of reliable sources) for what you contribute. Making it look pretty is something anybody can do given familiarity, but once you get settled in, you should at least skim read WP:citing sources (just. - Last thing: I will watch your talk page until 8 Jan.
