Talk page access restored

[edit]

Noting here that I have restored talk page access to allow for an on-wiki appeal. Beeblebrox (talk) 04:32, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

What I did in February of 2012 was awful, and I acknowledge that. And I did deserve to be banned for what I did back then. However, that was a long time ago, and if I get unbanned I'll do my best to help this website out in any way I can. I won't do anything like I did in February 2012 that got me banned I promise. And this is a promise I'm sticking to. Also, I must address that back in 2007-2008 I did my best to help the site, but the major difference is I will be able to help the site even more if I get unbanned since I'm a lot more mature now and civil. I'm also aware that the person who banned me in the first place has to comment here, but I can't contact Reaper Eternal directly.

Accept reason:

I'm certainly willing to give you a second chance. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 22:30, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Reaper Eternal: The log says compromised account, is that what it turned out to be? HighInBC 17:34, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was really me who did these terrible things. But I assure you that I really am sorry about the edits I made in February of 2012, and won't do it again after I get unbanned. I'm a member of many message boards, and never get into trouble there, so I know how to follow rules. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 17:38, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It turns out he was not compromised. I'm certainly not opposed to a second chance unblock either. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 22:29, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How much has changed here since 2007/2008?

[edit]

Wow, it's been over seven years since I last was on this website on a regular basis. It's so long. And I'm not sure how much has changed, that's why I'm asking.

I'm not just asking how much has changed regarding the article, I'm mainly asking how much has changed regarding how the site works, how the rules are, and so on. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 22:41, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll let someone else answer in more detail if they want, but much of it is the same. There's still a lot of bureaucracy (necessary IMO). If you start editing as if you're new-ish, you'll see the changes quickly. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 22:50, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I don't think it's possible to summarize seven or eight years of changes in one answer. You may want to check the archives of The Signpost for a quick overview of major developments. I'd say some of the major changes are WP:PROD, WP:Pending changes and discretionary sanctions. I also rather don't think WP:AFC was much of a thing back in 2008. Thanks for the answer, but I have another question. Is there any place I can go to to say stuff like "I'm back"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlazeTheMovieFan (talkcontribs)

The best place would be on your user page or on various WikiProjects that you were once involved. There isn't really a community noticeboard for social activity but you could say hello to everyone in the IRC channels. Mkdwtalk 23:23, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks anyway. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 23:25, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The main reason I decided to come back.

[edit]

Some of you might be wondering why I decided to come back. Though I doubt anyone is reading this since it's been over seven years since I was here regularly.

But anyway, the reason I decided to come back is to get useful information about the stuff I love. Even if useful information isn't accepted in the article, I can still get read it in the history, which is great. That's the main reason I wanted to come back, this is a great place for information, even though vandal edits that give no useful info are here too. But I can easily ignore them, which I will.

I love this website for that. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 00:20, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes

[edit]

Can someone explain to me how infoboxes work exactly and how I can put them on my user page? I did go to the this page and nowhere did I find an infobox that tells that I'm a huge movie fan, a Pokémon fan, or anything at all for that matter. Blaze The Movie Fan (talk) 01:50, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll quickly comment that userboxes and infoboxes are two different things. Infoboxes collate lots of similar data into a readable format instead of prose (for example here on the right in the article for United Kingdom). Userboxes are what users place on their pages to state their opinion on certain things or also lay out data in a (different) readable format instead of prose (WP:USERBOX). Maybe you mean userbox? Doesn't mean you can't put an infobox on your page, though. If you mean userboxes, try Wikipedia:Userboxes/Media/Film#Film_Viewers maybe. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 02:11, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah userboxes is what I was looking for, thanks for your help. Blaze The Movie Fan (talk) 02:12, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unwarranted reversion

[edit]

I have added back the changes you reverted on Dwayne Johnson, this time including a few citations. You may now wish to update the other pages which all mention Dwayne Johnson being part of the Anoaʻi family tree with such citations, so that there will be no similar confusion in the future. This includes but is not limited to: Anoaʻi family, Roman Reigns, Peter Maivia, Lia Maivia, Rocky Johnson, Afa Anoaʻi, Sika Anoa'i, Reno Anoa'i, Yokozuna (wrestler), Rosey (wrestler), Sam Fatu, Umaga (wrestler), Rikishi (wrestler), Samula Anoaʻi, Afa Anoaʻi, Jr., Lloyd Anoaʻi, and The Usos.

Again, these are just a few of the places which mention the Miavia/Anoaʻi connection and name Dwayne Johnson as part of the Anoaʻi family tree. There may be others. So be mindful there may be more articles in need of update to avoid this issue occurring in the future. Do not be afraid to look for more.

If you have any further issues, I advise you to open a discussion on the appropriate talk page and refrain from creating an edit war. I would also remind you the canvassing of others to join in such warring is also not allowed on Wikipedia. Considering your history here, it would seem being a party to such activity is especially not advised. --Wikisian (talk) 01:11, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How can this website survive without ads?

[edit]

There are no ads on this site, and almost everything about it is free. So my question is how does this site survive without ads? There are millions of articles, it must be expensive to keep all these servers.

I know how YouTube can survive with all these channels, there are ads all around the website especially since becoming a YouTube partner is easy now.

But with Wikipeida I don't know. Blaze The Movie Fan (talk) 18:13, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
