Women scientists

Hello, Thank you for your message. When I change WP Women scientists to WP Women writers it is because I do not think linguists, sociologists, economists or librarians are "scientists" in the same sense as physical scientists, life scientists, earth scientists or archaeologists. This I have done on many articles without any objection. Ok... If you scroll down the Abui language page as it currently is you can see that "Unknown glossing abbreviation(s)" appears as a frequent error. This is because the main source, (Kratochvíl 2007 A grammar of Abui: A Papuan language of Alor) uses many unconventional glossing abbreviations. As you can see from my edit history, I started putting code in to allow the reader to understand these glossing conventions one-by-one. This was tedious, so I switched to inserting all of the glossing conventions at the top of the page. I thought it was understood that the glossing conventions come from Kratochvíl 2007, since that is where the quoted examples inserted in the text come from.
If this is not allowed, do you have an alternate proposal for how to make it clear to the reader what all of Kratochvíl's glossing abbreviations mean, and to remove the "Unknown glossing abbreviation(s)" messages? BlakeALee (talk) 21:47, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was following the "custom abbreviations" information listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Interlinear#Glossing_abbreviations. This is part of the code not seen while in regular article reading mode. But it is important that the reader be able to understand Kratochvíl's abbreviations, otherwise the quoted examples from Kratochvíl in the article are not very helpful. Since this is a linguistics article on a little-known language, we have to include actual text examples of the language, which means directly quoting published sources. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Goeppertia elegans. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. I tried the "move" option first, and it did not work. A sockpuppet had apparently moved the article back and forth to the same destination in the past.
