Careful

Do not add red links in the see also section as you did in the article List of Governors of Eastern Province. --Neptune 123 (talk) 05:20, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that.--Blackknight12 (talk) 06:02, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

D. M. Swaminathan of Sri Lanka

Just now I came across that you had changed D.M.Swaminathan's name as Deva Swaminathan. I created his page & I am aware that in Sri Lanka he is well known as D.M.Swaminathan. Just as D.M.Jayaratne,S.B.Dissanayake & D. A. Rajapaksa. Therefore could you pl. change his name back to D.M.Swaminathan. I greatly appreciate if you can change it at your earliest.Ukussa (talk) 14:42, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply, I'll change it back.--Blackknight12 (talk) 08:49, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Flag of the Eastern Province.PNG

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of the Eastern Province.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Towns in Central Province, Sri Lanka

Sure, I'll look into it, although Burmese villages are my current focus. Thanks for your list, please help fill out the other provincial lists too if they are not developed. Do you intend expanding any of them? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:06, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your consideration, and that is the plan though I don't know how long it will take. I can complete 7 of the 9 lists thoroughly, however two of them, namely the Northern and Eastern ones I do not have a good source for because my current one lists them as one province. I work primarily on Sri Lanka articles to expand its coverage on the internet and my intentions right now is to create all its missing articles first, and once they exist expand them later on. I have also created spin off articles for Divisional Secretariats of Sri Lanka and recently I have been planning to create the missing articles in the spin off articles of Provincial Governors of Sri Lanka, which I will do the same for Chief Minister of Sri Lanka.--Blackknight12 (talk) 04:39, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Between myself and Ser Amantio we have started every village in Central Province listed. Some tips on expanding them. Search the village name under Google books. You should find a lot of the villages in some old Ceylon gazeteer or something. Once you find a source copy and paste the url into here and it will create a citation for you. I really do hope that you'll expand a few of these... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:28, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

This is your last warning; the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. --ashwinikalantri talk 12:23, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Instead of stalling, threatening users with blockings and not answering the questions, but reverting the article, why don't you argue for why you are right. I don't see you trying to have a proper discussion, even thought you yourself requested that I do, here, here and here.--Blackknight12 (talk) 12:32, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

As I have told you earlier, there is a method to editing the Wikipedia. I have answered all the discussions. But you dont seem to stop. I am supposed to warn you sufficiently before reporting you. All I am asking is stop and discuss before you draw conclusion. Hope thats not too much to ask for? Thanks--ashwinikalantri talk 12:39, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

why ?

why you keep editing jacqueline's page again & again?. If you want to edit, the first thing you should do is to learn how to SPELL simple words. spelling errors in a person's biography ! what do you think ? ugly !. My editions may be a LITTLE away from a neutral point of view but they are true.Your edition is not at least good as it was before mine.please leave it alone!. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.231.60.168 (talk) 07:26, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry which words did I spell wrong? Wikipedia is a encyclopaedia and and must contain a neutral point of view so on that argument your edits should have been removed, as well as for the fact of not having a source to back up the information, for all we know you could be lying. Also there is no such thing as Murrey University in Melbourne, I kept it there in the event that it was a typo and you would fix it soon. I will revert it back, but if you continue to work outside of the policies and guidelines I will have to report you for vandalism. Thanks--Blackknight12 (talk) 07:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

New Template

Hey Blackknight12, I have made a new template for match summery on main article page. Template:Cricket Match Summary Could use your input. I feel this should be great representation of the match in a concise manner.--ashwinikalantri talk 08:29, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Cant we have it like this?

9 June 1983
England  322/6 | 216  New Zealand The Oval, London
England won by 106 runs.

This would look even better.--Karyasuman (talk) 16:36, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Cricket

Hi, Looks like we are getting no where. And this is affecting the World Cup article. Can we agree to disagree? Lets leave the list of matches the way they are until we agree on something and ask the admin to open the article for editing? How does that sound? --ashwinikalantri talk 13:54, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello, no offence but this would not have happened if you did not revert the page back so often, the article should never have been changed with such a controversial edit without being discussed before, yet you ignored that. However seeing as there is finally a discussion going on, we can wait for that to produce an agreement among the editors. In the mean time the article should be restored to the way it was before the controversial edits were added.--Blackknight12 (talk) 12:08, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Again, be polite. No use playing the blame game. We have seen there is no end to that. here's a really old version (March 2010) if the article which shows the original state of the article indeed had the ODI template.
I understand that a lot of effort must have gone in making those tables. But please try to understand that its easier for users to edit the template than a table. The table is also prone to errors and mistakes. And If there is a template, we dont have to touch the article. We can simply discuss the design changes in the template.--ashwinikalantri talk 12:19, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
There is no need to restore the whole article to an earlier version, because that is not what is being discussed, plus there have been other information added since the controversial edits. What is being discussed is the matches section so that section should be restored as see here to the current version, until a consensus has been reached in the discussions. If the agreement is for the template that you have created then it can be changed.
I did not make them, and they can be converted into templates the same way you did to yours.--Blackknight12 (talk) 12:31, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
I dont think you get me. I am saying that we use the template for now. Then make changes to the template. That way we dont even have to change the article. I dont own that template. Its editable even by you.
And what is this "Controversial Edits"? What we are discussing is a design issues. We have never had issues with matter. Nothing controversial about that!--ashwinikalantri talk 14:18, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Hello, Blackknight12. You have new messages at LahiruG's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The reason why we at WP:CRIC feel that a template is better than table is because of its low error level, reproducibility and uniformity. It has been decided at WT:CRIC to use the template. Please stop reverting. --ashwinikalantri talk 13:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia page inconsistencies

Hi,

This is regarding the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lankan_Moors

I believe that there are some inconsistencies in this article, of course since I am not a historian I may well be wrong. But the name of kings and their time periods seem to be wrong according to other sources such as

http://www.lanka.info/Sri_Lanka/ancientKings.jsp

(for example parakramabahu the second was not the son of buwaanakabahu the second, the time periods are wrong as well.)

""There is also a report in the history of Sri Lanka of a Muslim ruler, Vathimi Raja, who reigned at Kurunegala (North Central Province) in the 14th century. This factor cannot be found in history books due to their omission, for reasons unknown, by modern authors. Vathimi Raja was the son of King Bhuvaneka Bahu I, by a Muslim spouse, the daughter of one of the chiefs. The Sinhalese son of King Bhuvaneka Bahu I, Parakrama Bahu III, the real heir to the throne was crowned at Dambadeniya under the name of Pandita Parakrama Bahu III. In order to be rid of his step brother, Vathimi Raja, he ordered that his eyes be gouged out. It is held that the author of the Mahavamsa (ancient history of Ceylon) had suppressed the recording of this disgraceful incident. The British translator, Mudaliyar Wijesinghe, states that original Ola (leaf script) was bodily removed from the writings and fiction inserted instead. The blinded Vathimi Raja (Bhuvaneka Bahu II or Al-Konar, abbreviated from Al-Langar-Konar, meaning Chief of Lanka of Alakeshwara) was seen by the Arab traveller Ibn Batuta during his visit to the island in 1344. His son named Parakrama Bahu II (Alakeshwara II) was also a Muslim. The lineage of Alakeshwara kings (of Muslim origin) ended in 1410. Although all the kings during this reign may not have been Muslims, the absence of the prefix -Shri Sangha Bodhi- (pertaining to the disciples of the Buddha) to the name of these kings on the rock inscriptions during this hundred year period may be considered as an indicator that they were not Buddhists. Further during Ibn Batuta's visit a Muslim ruler called Jalasthi is reported to have been holding Colombo, maintaining his hold over the town with a garrison of about 500 Abyssinians.[1]"

Since you are familiar with the article it would be great if you could let me know if everything is ok.

Thanks, and all the best —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.130.178.209 (talk) 06:57, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Warm-up Matches

The matches played in Dubai are not warm-up for the following reasons.

  1. They include teams that havent qualified for the World Cup 2011
  2. They are on grounds not officially approved for World Cup 2011
  3. The official schedule doesnt include them, but only matches played from 12th Feb 2011.

Thanks. --ashwinikalantri talk 15:37, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

The article List of towns in Western Province, Sri Lanka has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Bunch of red links, mainly, although first bluelink is to a place in Scotland, unrefereferenced and would appear irredeemable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Crusoe8181 (talk) 12:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. ICC EAP Trophy

Hi, just wondering why you moved this articles to articles with "List A" in the name, given that none of the matches in this tournament have ever had List A status? Andrew nixon (talk) 06:14, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I wrote it to differentiate the one day tournament from the twenty20 tournament of the ICC EAP Cricket Trophy. I was just cleaning up and grouping the articles, because the whole thing was so messy. The status of in must have skipped my mind because I was only reorganising what was already on Wikipedia, and not adding anything extra. Should we rename it "One day" in place of "List A"?--Blackknight12 (talk) 06:33, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
That would probably be the best solution. Andrew nixon (talk) 07:04, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Blackknight12 - I just changed the {{WikiProject Sri Lanka}} "importance" field from "importance=top" to "importance= ". Please do change it back, if you think "importance=top" is correct. --Shirt58 (talk) 09:22, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Elara

Hi Blacknight12,

Thanks for your confirmation for deleting my contribute to that page. Fine , I would like to know why the word "Ealam" is not supposed to be pronounced in Srilank. You said it is an Tamil word. Yes it is an Tamil word. Does it mean Tamil never used in Srilanka. And beleive it is one of the official language in Srilanka. Please try to read the Srilankan history. You will come to know there were many tamil kingdoms in Srilanka before Elara period. Please let me know if you want eveidence for the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thirukan (talkcontribs) 03:15, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

The word Eelam was used in the wrong context. Elara was never the king of Eelam, (which is nowadays referred to as the proposed state in Sri Lanka), he was the King of Anuradhapura. Calm down, yes it is a Tamil word, but I never said Tamil was never used in Sri Lanka nor that is wasn't an official language. I think I know my Sri Lankan history thank you, but I think you should brush up on yours.--Blackknight12 (talk) 04:26, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Sri Lanka

Regarding the continues dispute on the Civil War section in the Sri Lanka article, I'm suggesting that everyone pull-out from editing and make any suggested constructive edits on this mediation sandbox. On the 18th, we can start discussing the content on the same page's discussion, to be able to seek consensus before we add anything to the main article. It's a high-traffic article, and I don't want to be a reason for misleading readers. So please keep it in your watchlist. Happy editing... Kattankudy Urban Council

I understand why you have renamed the above article Kattankudi Urban Council but now the spelling doesn't agree with the town's article: Kattankudy. We need consistent spelling on Wikipedia. When Tamil places are written English they generally end in "dy" rather than "di" e.g. Alaveddy, Erukkulampiddy, Chenkalady, Kaithady, Kaluvanchikudy, Karaveddy, Myliddy, Nelliyady, Thalaiady, Thavady, Tholakaddy, Udupiddy, Villundy.--obi2canibetalk contr 20:31, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Seeing as it is a government institution and it is officially spelt that way I would leave it how it is, however there are slightly more hits on Google with the 'y'. Either way I'd like to hear a third opinion?--Blackknight12 (talk) 15:26, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

The Sri Lanka article

Hi:) You may have seen that I was involved in a major edit in the Sri lanka article and have almost rewritten it, adding more details and citations during the last month. But the current indefinite full protection of the article makes it impossible to finish my job by expanding the "Culture" section. Thus I have developed a separate version of the article in a user page of mine. It incorporates a new expanded Culture section, reference improvement and other general fixes, which I don't expect to be controversial. Can you please suggest me a way forward? You are welcome to edit the user page if necessary, and forward this request to an administrator to get involved. I have also taken this issue to TransporterMan as well. Waiting for your reply. Hey, that's some good work you've done. It seems that the protection of the Sri Lanka article has been lifted. I would suggest you add your addition if you are finished. Had the protection not been lifted you could have asked an admin to add it for you. Maybe you should wait until the stability of the article is secure enough for your additions to stay permanently and not be contested by a new user who is here to create trouble, as we have seen in the past few months. I was also going to ask you before if you wouldn't mind rewriting the Civil War section in the article? I look forward to looking over your edits, which I will do soon. Good work!--Blackknight12 (talk) 10:42, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
It's good that I arrived in time to make the edit without much disturbance:) I would certainly look forward to rewrite the disputed sections while reaching a consensus. In the mean time, please examine the sections I've edited for grammar, prose, accuracy of the details, whether references are adequate or suggests otherwise, etc. Thank you. Blackknight12, I think the "Culture" section was fine in the previous version of the article. I removed the "Art" section and added it under "Visual, literary and performing arts" because having separate sections for each type of art is unnecessary. Moreover, someone had directly copied it from here. So I think you won't mind if I adjust that section to the previous version. Astronomyinertia (talk) 18:47, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Ok yeah go straight ahead, my mistake.--Blackknight12 (talk) 02:34, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
I have taken the issue to the DRN. Astronomyinertia (talk) 17:43, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Offer

hey, Do want to work together to clean up an article? Distributor108 (talk) 09:49, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Normally I might help out, but considering the current situation and your edit warring behaviour, as well as you personal attacks such as this one I'm going to have to decline.--Blackknight12 (talk) 11:26, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, I created an article (Big Bash League trophy) which has been proposed for deletion because IPL or any other domestic t20 tournament does not have any page like this. Have your say here. Hope you understand the problem.--Karyasuman (talk) 11:44, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi

Please do not remove cited material. Your edits are racially motivated and are unnecessary to articles on this website. (Tamilan101 (talk) 06:04, 16 October 2011 (UTC))

RfC notification

Within the continues efforts of trying to stabilize the Sri Lankan articles, I saw that it's important to take a step forward and request for comments from the open-wide community. I've opened the RfC here and you're welcome to join. Just remember, this is only about the structure and has nothing to do with the content. Cheers... This is a generalized message. Thanks, I will reply soon.--Blackknight12 (talk) 00:14, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi. In List of Sri Lankan Malays, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page RSP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
