I'm so happy someone quoted from my edits on Gareth Mitchell's wiki

[edit]

Gareth didn't flout this on his social media, but he was interviewed by the University of Malta here. Quote:

"Gareth Mitchell hosts the BBC’s Digital Planet Podcast. He lectures in broadcast and written journalism at Imperial College London. Before his interest in technology, Gareth used to participate in bellringing. He is also a pilot and is a licensed amateur radio operator."

Without my digging into his tweets on aviation, his actual brush with bellringing as a teenager in 2015, and his updates on his most ongoing quest in amateur radio, I suppose the folks at University of Malta wouldn't have known otherwise. So if Gareth ever sees this, remember that famous quote by the Terminator. Or Yoda. Happy 50th birthday, buddy, even though you can't go to a pub. I'm not sure if I'm your biggest fan, but I can't deny that Digital Planet played a huge role in my life.

I will be back — Terminator

Further reflection: I suspect this journalist has done a great job hiding who he is. Full-time starting 2000 vs 2002 (see his page), and speaking in fear of jabs in the Rethink podcast but the fact that he couldn't have entered Kenya (2009 & 2019, Nairobi) without vaccination (specifically yellow fever), has cast doubt on the work he has done. I'm ashamed of him.
