Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Bioinformatics.AMR, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page.   Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:18, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Neither Bioinformatics nor AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance) in my username Bioinformatics.AMR reflects any organization or company. I am working on research involved in antimicrobial drug resistance and have a belief that publicly (free) available resources like this is a big asset to the research community. In the Wikipedia guideline, Wikipedia states that the topics should be notable, so I added the access log of the database so to show the credibility of the database. I still could not find where my article endorses any organization? I have taken wikipedia pages of other AMR resources (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_biological_databases#Antimicrobial_Resistance_databases) as template and my article does not look any different from them. Therefore, I request you to kindly unblock my account and please let me know any specific line in my article draft about u-CARE that seems to reflect an endorsement. Thanks and appreciation again for taking time to help new editors like us.

Decline reason:

Per the discussion below. Feel free to make a new request with additional info and (I suggest) an alternative username that your account can be renamed to should this one prove to be unacceptable. kingboyk (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Looks like it's the name of a website-- www.e-bioinformatics.net/ucare, though I take your point. No objection if reviewing admin wishes to unblock.   Dlohcierekim (talk) 03:21, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @331dot: I am a bioinformatician working on AMR aspect. I found list of AMR (Antimicrobial resistance) based databases on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_biological_databases#Antimicrobial_Resistance_databases to be very useful. The work mentioned in my article, is published in a reputed journal (Journal of Clinical Pathology) and to my understanding is an asset to AMR research community. As other similar databases have wikipedia pages, I thought that wikipedia page of this database will also help researchers like me. As I am naive to wikipedia, the content of the article is based on template from other AMR based databases. From the published research manuscript of the database I understand that the database is based in an academic system in India and provided free of cost to the user, so I believe endorsment from my side will neither help me nor the database. Hope it helps. Bioinformatics.AMR (talk) 13:50, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Looked at that again and it's very promotional in tone.  Dlohcierekim (talk) 14:05, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Dlohcierekim: As being naive to Wikipedia article writing, I have read Wikipedia pages of all the AMR based databases and copied the headers one by one. I still do not understand how my article is being different from other Wiki pages? I am sorry as English is not my native language and this is my first experience writing a Wikipedia article but it will be a great help if you please shed some light on this.

Bioinformatics.AMR (talk) 14:16, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • If there is other promotional content on Wikipedia, we certainly don't want more. The subtext of your answer is that you are trying to promote the database. So it can have a page like other databases. Have you any off-Wiki connection with this database? @331dot: have you anything to add?  Dlohcierekim (talk) 19:05, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would concur with your assessment, and second the question. 331dot (talk) 20:34, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:U-CARE
