Welcome...

Hello, Bill Willis, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

I encourage you to take the time to browse through these resources, particularly the items linked in Wikipedia:Five pillars. I think you will find the Wikipedia experience more satisfying once you get acquainted with these materials.

Again, welcome! Orlady (talk) 02:23, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:Longhunter. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Your comments on the Longhunter discussion page no longer appear to be aimed at improving the article. Before posting, please take a deep breath, reread your comments, and think twice about whether your comments are productive and truly related to improving articles. Above all, be civil. --Orlady (talk) 02:53, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I hope it's just my perception, but my perception is that you moved beyond a focus on improving the article to a situation where the principal impact of your comments is to "get under the skin" of the major contributor to the article on which you are commenting. As I said, Before posting, please take a deep breath, reread your comments, and think twice about whether your comments are productive and truly related to improving articles. --Orlady (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Signing your name on talk pages

[edit]

For future reference, the standard Wikipedia procedure for signing your name on talk pages is to use four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date and time. Also, note that there's a button above the "editing" form that will add the signature with just one click.

As for your request for "offline" communication, note that Wikipedia culture calls for most communication about Wikipedia to occur on talk pages. --Orlady (talk) 15:45, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
