GTA IV Site Listings
Hi there. You reverted my addition of Grand Theft Wiki on GTAIV a couple of days ago. I couldn't see any direct discussion of this, so could you explain the rationale behind it? GTW is a detailed source of information of GTA IV, moreso than any other site I am aware of. Although it isn't subject to the same level of encyclopaedic scrutiny as Wikipedia, it is still mostly valid, and is certainly useful for visitors to read. I look forward to your reply - Gerardtalk 14:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Gerard. The actual discussion where a consensus was reached has been buried in an archive, it can be read here: Talk:Grand_Theft_Auto_IV/Archive_2#GTA_4_Fansites.3F. What my concerns were at the time and other editors agreed, was that the amount of information that's been released is quite small so far meant that any additional information could be speculative. This is compared to fansites for games that have been out for a long time which have verifiable material that won't be included in Wikipedia, for example game guides, more depth, etc.. Another thing I took into consideration is that the link is to a Wiki, the Wikipedia policy concerning external links says that links to Wikis should be avoided. So it was a combination of both those reasons that made me decide to revert it. You're more than welcome to make the case on the GTA IV talk page for including the link. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 14:51, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- That's fair enough - detail on GTA IV is pretty sparse at the moment, and anything GTW has that WP doesn't is most likely speculation. However, I would point out some articles where we have (and continue to) analyse the various information we have in some considerable depth - see the bridges section on Liberty City in GTA IV. Looking at Wikipedia:Linking_to_other_wikis, GTW's policies match up pretty well with Wikipedias, although we allow mention of speculation (rumours etc) where it is clearly marked as such; GTW is specific and relevant; and it is edited daily by several editors (increasingly so). I just believe a link would help readers access relevant information about the topic, as well as other items such as media including screenshots of the GTA IV trailer and partial transcriptions (quotes) from the GI article. I may bring it up on the talk page, but I'd rather have your opinions first. Thanks - Gerardtalk 00:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I had a good look around the GTA IV articles on your Wiki and even though the articles are well written, and it's a useful resource for GTA information, it's my opinion that the content wont really add much to the Wikipedia article. The bridge section is good but it's still not enough to sway me that the site is the site that has the depth and content about GTAIV that should be included. Once the game is released and the GTA IV section has similar content to the other games, for example where there's fine detail about missions, then the site will be a good candidate for one of the notable fan produced websites in the external links. I am by no means the last word on this and I whole heartedly recommend you bring it up if you still feel the site should be linked. One thing to note though is that the guideline about linking to wikis is just in the proposal stage at the moment. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 02:57, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dibswonderfullifeofdoom.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Dibswonderfullifeofdoom.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:31, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Re: Image deletions
Hi there. You've recently unlinked some deleted images related Invader Zim, I don't know how much you were involved in the actual deletion of the images but for the life of me I can't remember if any of them were uploaded by myself. I would be very grateful if you could point me to the images for deletion discussion for File:IdiotDog01.jpg if you know it. Thanks. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 03:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've deleted a number of images today while working through Category:Images with no fair use rationale, which contains images eligible for speedy deletion for not having fair use rationales. Some images I came across were used on pages alongside other images I had deleted, and though they hadn't been tagged yet were nevertheless eligible for speedy deletion anyway.
- The one you mention seems to have been uploaded by Philiplore. --bainer (talk) 03:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Ah ok, Thanks for letting me know. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 04:02, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Invader Zim categories
I have removed your categories from the speedy renaming list, as Invader Zim is the correct title, not Invader ZIM. This is in accordance with the manual of style page on trademarks, which says not to capitalize things aT RANdom just because some company marketing division thinks it looks cool. I will be making a similar move on the Zim page itself. Have a nice day. --tjstrf talk 07:21, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, BillPP. Your comments and suggestions during development of the criteria for whether or not to include a gang in the list were very helpful. Time to go
Sadly I will not be involving myself in Wikipedia any more. This is due to the jobsworths who have too much time on there hands that they feel they must go around finding fault in articles just for the sake of it and editing them just so as to annoy people or because they feel that because they have access to a PC and a keyboard they can show people just how clever they really are. Its sad because this site is possibly the best and most comprehensive information outlet on the net. Its just a shame it is controlled and accessed by people with little else to do. The articles I have written are based solely on fact and are of subjects which are of great interest to me. Therefore if they come across as being a little biased this is purely unintentional. However to sabotage articles for the sheer hell of it is for me quite pathetic. I really couldn't be that bothered. The article I wrote on Lancaster City F.C. is possibly the most comprehensive account of the club anywhere on the Internet but to some people it is just an excuse to find fault. I may not be as well educated as some and my articles may not come across as the work of a literary genius but believe me I am not stupid. It does seem though that some people really need to think about geting a life as what goes on on this excellent site is being spoilt by a few faceless, self important jobsworths.User:Doctor Jimmy

Problems with tone of Infocom
In this edit to Infocom, you added Template:tone, which indicates "An editor has expressed a concern that the tone or style of this article may not be appropriate for an encyclopedia." Presumably that editor is you. The template goes on to say that, "Specific concerns may be found on the talk page." I'm not seeing any obvious tone problems in the article, and I'm not seeing any specific concerns on the talk page. If you could list your specific concerns that would really help other editors figure out how to best improve the article. Thank you for your time, — Alan De Smet | Talk 02:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Removed My Content
Hello this is Macca 220 in regards to the section i added into the article (Grand Theft Auto San Andreas) On weapons i am just asking why you removed it, it was a section many people would have liked to read about the weapons you can receive on the game before buying it and not liking it can you please tell me why you removed my content from the page
From Wikipedia Memember:User:Macca 220Macca 220 05:10, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I removed that information per the Wikipedia Policy WP:NOT#INFO, specifically: Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of items of information. That something is 100% true does not automatically mean it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Though list of weapons is factual, that's something which is better placed on a game guide website. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 12:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Body-blows-cover.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Body-blows-cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 07:15, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Invader Zim article
Greetings. Regarding the edits to the Invader ZIM article that I had made (for which I had no proof that was immediately accessible) I found this link with proof of my edit. http://www.buzzyworld.com/zim/archives/foodlist.html It may not look reliable, but the quote is in the exact episode that it says. For Dib's quote regarding how a long time ago, cards and candy were given out on Valentine's Day, look for the word "candy".
Thank you for your time. =) 68.164.59.136 15:27, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- I know the quote you're referring to, but it doesn't prove anything. For example it could be an alternate reality where in the past they gave candy out on valentines day. A more specific source is required. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 17:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Audiogenic-logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:25, 11 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
