Plot blanker
[edit]Are you the plot planker that a lot of WP:Film editors have taken issue with? I'm thinking that you are, judging by this edit, and that you are focusing on WP:FILMPLOT. You clearly are not a WP:Newbie either way. If you are the plot blanker, I stand by what I recently told you. You should cut the plot sections appropriately by adequately summarizing instead of indiscriminately cutting, or you will be reverted. More than once, NinjaRobotPirate and I, and others, have tried to make you understand that. Flyer22 (talk) 01:23, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? I didn't even edit the Red State film. To explain the truth, I'm not really a plot blanker, and I don't think it's all that polite to insult or bite newcomers just for recently posting this message. But I'll give you one secret just as a consultation prize. Make sure you know the truth that there are many strangers in the wilderness that are especially innocent; on this site of course. But I'm glad I got to know you guys. Thanks for the heads up anyway. BigSportsUnion (talk) 01:40, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Flyer22 is referring to a problematic IP user who blanks entire paragraphs. For example, he removes the entire middle part of a plot summary, leaving only the opening scene and the climax. Obviously, that makes the plot incoherent. However, he has refused to stop doing this. Your focus on film plots must have tripped Flyer22's spidey sense. Remember, WP:FILMPLOT is not a rule. It's a guideline. That means that there will be occasional circumstances when it does not apply. Also, it's more important that plots remain coherent and easy to understand than they follow guidelines. This is why we have the guideline in the first place. So, yes, if you can streamline a plot down to 700 words, you should do so. But be careful that you don't accidentally make it harder to understand. I wrote a user essay about this that might be helpful: User:NinjaRobotPirate/How to streamline a plot summary. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:54, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Well...I see what's going on. So it's this dynamic IP address wrongdoing everything. So I guess this is sort of a little...misjudgement here? But I glad you told me the truth and I'll study the essay you posted to me so I can learn about it as well. I know, some users mistakenly get scolded for their wrongdoings but somewhere is another dynamic IP bashing through. I must say you're really good on how the WP:FILM guidelines work, and I'll try to aspire through it in the future. So, all in all, best wishes and hope all goes well. Take care. - BigSportsUnion, NinjaRobotPirate has it right. I didn't mean to offend you. And the reason that I've pegged you as not being a WP:Newbie is because WP:Newbies do not know about WP:FILMPLOT, not usually anyway. There is also the fact that you instantly created your user page, which is not typical of WP:Newbies and that you already know how to WP:Indent well, which is not typical of WP:Newbies. You can see more of what I mean about identifying non-newbies by looking at my user page. Anyway, as long as you edit well at Wikipedia, I won't have a problem with how you edit here. Sorry for the misunderstandings. Flyer22 (talk) 02:42, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Flyer22, thanks for apologizing, you have been accepted. I looked through both IPs, and it most definitely was not me who was making the mistakes. I'm always looking through the plots and making sure they are set in the required length. In case you were unaware, some Clue Bot mistakenly reverted one of my edits, which seems to be fine. But as long as you're keeping it real, never give up in your dreams. BigSportsUnion (talk) 02:51, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

- Okay. And if you used to edit Wikipedia film plots as an IP (not the problematic IP, but just an IP in general), it makes sense that you could have learned about WP:FILMPLOT in that way since these sections often have the WP:Hidden note about the standard length. This would also explain why you are adding the WP:Hidden note about plot lengths to film articles. Flyer22 (talk) 02:56, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- I am curious about which previous account you edited under, though; because looking at your latest edits, I'm even more certain that you have significant experience editing Wikipedia. And, oh, if you want to help combat the plot blanker, this link shows an IP that the plot blanker very recently used. Flyer22 (talk) 05:25, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Update: Well, I see Ponyo blocked and tagged you as a WP:Sock. So that's that. Flyer22 (talk) 00:22, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
