Status and Advice

[edit]

Don't worry about it. As reviewing administrator, I can tell you that the article is a satisfactory beginning. The extremely inexperienced editor who placed the deletion tags very obviously did not know what he was doing, and I will instruct him.

However, the article needs some addition information. It would help to have approximate dates of birth and death, and some more detailed information about his career. It would also help to have more than one references.

Please do continue to contribute here. You are very welcome to ask on my talk page for all the help you may need, and I am sorry you had such an rough beginning. It shouldn't have happened, and is not typical here, DGG ( talk ) 23:27, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia

[edit]

I have reverted you at Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia. Two of your sources were identical except for one paragraph, while the third was a generic Google search result. Your key point seemed to be to verify that Maharajah exists as a courtesy title for the article subject. Since India is a republic and all the princely stuff went out long ago, you'll need to find a source that specifically says he holds this title as a courtesy. Based on past discussions, including at WT:INB in recent months, I think that is an unlikely prospect. There is a world of difference between an officially-recognised courtesy title and the slavish adulation that throwbacks from within his Maratha clan try to resurrect in order to bask in their perception of reflected glory.

I suggest that you open a discussion on the article talk page if you wish to pursue this further, although it probably would be worth your while digging through some talk page archives first in order not to reinvent the wheel. - Sitush (talk) 17:23, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Darbar of Raja of Dhar - Udaji Rao Pawar II.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Darbar of Raja of Dhar - Udaji Rao Pawar II.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:25, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Poor edits

[edit]

If you continue your dreadfully poor edits, among the most recent of many being those to Kayastha and Company rule in India, then I'll be seeking the opinion of administrators with regard to your disruptive behaviour. You are working fast, hard ... and wrongly. Please slow down and think. - Sitush (talk) 21:13, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add honorifics to articles

[edit]

Greetings, it is unnecessary to add "Shri", "Chhatrapati", "HH" to the names of figures in articles. Where appropriate, we discuss their titles, but we do not refer to people by such honorifics in-line. The exception for "Shri" and similar is where Shri has become part of the figure's WP:Common name even outside their own circles (in some rare cases of gurus, etc), but otherwise generally no. Incorrect marking of edits

[edit]

Please do not routinely use the "minor edit" checkbox unless your efforts are indeed minor. This contribution, for example, was far from being a trivial change. - Sitush (talk) 15:11, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
