Formal mediation has been requested
[edit]The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Malia Bouattia". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 7 August 2016.
Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Joseph Farquhar
[edit]Hello Bharel. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Joseph Farquhar, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: You can only use A11 for mainspace articles. Thank you. BangJan1999 23:57, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- @BangJan1999 Yeah sure, but G11 that you've added is for advertisement. What is the equivalent of A11 for draft namespace? I've put G1 first but it doesn't seem to suit either. Bar Harel (talk) 23:59, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- There isn't one. Speedy deletion is only for really specific circumstances depending on page type. BangJan1999 00:03, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @BangJan1999 well it clearly qualified for speedy deletion, but I guess the self-advertisement clause was the one you chose to delete it with, and I agree that it might suit the most. Thank you and keep up the speedy work đ Bar Harel (talk) 00:10, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Vandalism reverted
[edit]Hello, you reverted some minor vandalism earlier today: | diff
The ip editor who posted this vandalism has just today returned from a 3-day block for disruptive editing. I don't know how vandalism is reported normally, but will the admin responsible for the block (or any other admin) automatically be notified of this vandalism and which ip was responsible? Thanks. Dcs002 (talk) 00:13, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Dcs002 How do you know it is the same guy? Either way, admins are not automatically notified - a report should be made in WP:AIV. Do you want to try it and contact me if you need help? All the best, Bar Harel (talk) 00:26, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'll do it in a couple hours. (I'll be busy for a while.) The vandalism was from the same ip range that had been blocked,, and which the disruptive ip editor had been using, and the actual ip that made the vandalistic post did so on one of their more common sites of activity. Also, looking at the specific ip's history of posts today, they are all on the same pages the disruptive ip editor had been active (and disruptive) on, and though their comments have been mostly more practical, some have followed the same patterns that we saw previously. I just think that frank vandalism on the first day back from a block is serious. Thanks. Dcs002 (talk) 00:46, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- I reported the incident on the AN/I discussion that was still open concerning the ip editor. (I thought it would have been closed by then.) Today I read in that discussion the ip editor admitting to being the same person, and to the vandalism. They were blocked for another 30 days. I thought you should know. Take care, and thank you for your work here. Dcs002 (talk) 03:48, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Dcs002 Thank you for taking care of Wikipedia, and letting me know. Have a great week đ ~~~~ Bar Harel (talk) 03:51, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted
[edit]Hi Bharel. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJÂ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:28, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Extinct bird species edit
[edit]I made that edit in order to put all the scops owls (Otus) together, as is done with all of the other genera in that article.2600:1700:B570:3BD0:C9D9:D387:D573:FE3E (talk) 18:15, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @user:2600:1700:B570:3BD0:C9D9:D387:D573:FE3E Oh alright, sorry. Do you need help organizing the section? It just looked liked you're putting random words in the article. Maybe it's better to use appropriate headings? Keep up the good work, Bar Harel (talk) 18:17, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

- @Odinaka1 You removed all of the references and completely changed the article. If you do wish to change things, make sure you back it up with proper citations. Please also see WP:manual of style. Bar Harel (talk) 03:27, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think that will be happening. Drmies (talk) 04:20, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Drmies Yeah, I sometimes feel a bit too optimistic . But I did manage to turn some people from that position into good editors, two of them were actually elected as administrators, so I do know it is possible for people to learn and change. Luckily, WP:AGF is not a myth. Thank you Drmies for all of your work today. I see you just about everywhere. Kudos. Bar Harel (talk) 04:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ha, we may just share some interest. I said "I don't think that will be happening" because I blocked the account, and a couple of others related to that article--there was some serious socking going on as well. One of them started a draft for a new and improved version, which was clearly a COI creation and a puff piece. Thanks for helping keep the place clean. Drmies (talk) 15:14, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Bharel⊠I was adding Sky âWillieâ Stern from Venice as the drummer that joined Beowulf in August of 2018. He was added in order to make the live performances possible as Rich Rowen wasnât able to make the majority of upcoming dates. Sky left that position in 2019. Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the ArabâIsraeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipediaâs norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Copyright on Wikipedia
[edit]Hi -
Please don't copy a sentence from a source and paste it directly into Wikipedia, as you did here. See also Wikipedia:Copyright violations and Wikipedia:Copyrights. Thanks DFlhb (talk) 17:51, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- It's not really a copyvio, the sentence you've put instead is not what the source says. According to CNN themselves it is because he was present in the attack. We can rephrase it or quote them directly if we wish. Bar Harel (talk) 19:27, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
- Moreover you wrote that they said it, they never did. They raised questions. Bar Harel (talk) 19:44, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from using talk pages for general discussion of this or other topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See the talk page guidelines for more information. Thank you. Jeppiz (talk) 08:47, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oh please, I'm pretty sure Hezbollah as a terror organization would not count as a reliable source according to any policy, and accusing people of brigading because of a news publication goes against the community guidelines and is pretty defamatory.
- If you're already patrolling the talk page, at least patrol it neutrally. Bar Harel (talk) 08:55, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Given that I've never said Hezbollah is reliable nor accused anyone of brigading, I'm afraid your comment makes little sense. If you have an issue with some other user, take it up with them on their talk page. Jeppiz (talk) 09:36, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- The comments you removed were a response to someone that did, but nevermind. Article was already adjusted. Bar Harel (talk) 16:37, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
