Hi

[edit]

Hello Bhadaniji, long time since I said hi to you! I am not very active these days as I am busy in real life... The next month also promises to be very busy... I just keep popping up every now and then and looks like it will be that way for the next few months... — Lost(talk) 18:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is fine. real life matters require proper attention. However, please continue to keep popping up :) --Bhadani (talk) 05:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main India article

[edit]

Dear Bhadani...Saw some of your contributions...am kind of new...but I still feel that the Main India article is written from a British/Western point of view. From an Indian point of view, we always see the UK/PT/FR as foreigners and occupiers. I thus feel that we should adopt another POV in which we denigrate the British view and put more emphasis on the history of India before the British came...so that India is continuous since Indus Valley Civilization and not overnight from 1947...I already had some discussion with users IndianStar, NobleEagle, Chanakyathegreat...and they agree, however, the British writer Fowler always negates all these opinions and puts in the British POV with the guise of Encyclopaedia Britannica references. I thus urge you to refurbish the India main paragraph and remove even the word British and put more emphasis on Indus Valley Civilization...and India's first emperor Ashoka...and maintain the continuity since 5000 years. The British maybe just referred to as foreign occupiers. Basically even the word British is derogatory in the India article... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.186.8.10 (talk) 04:40, 1 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you for your message and kind words. However, I am no longer interested in such matters - at least, for the time being. Kindly seek the advice and assistance of persons who may be more knowledgeable than me. I would also suggest that for serious work and discussion, one should register and do some edits so that community of wikipedians may form an opinion about the contents created by that particular editor. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 05:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you should now retire from wikipedia. You have wasted enough time of the community. --219.65.124.168 06:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. However, I reserve the right to disappoint you. . --Bhadani (talk) 08:51, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Would you care to comment on this timeline? Or should I have used a sock to ask this question, as someone imagines would be my wont? rudra 18:20, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just passed by that street and I do not feel like commenting as the debate has become emotionally over-charged. --Bhadani (talk) 19:31, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I concede that it's unfair to expect anyone to speak up. I have updated my User page accordingly. Good luck to you. rudra 19:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rama's Arrow (talk · contribs)'s post on my Talk page seems to be suggesting that I have included you (and if so, him too) among the lot mentioned on my User page. That was not my intent at all. If you have taken my earlier comment here in that way, I apologise for the misunderstanding (and, of course, my less than perfectly clear English.) I sympathise with your take on the matter. rudra 20:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I never took your comments in any negative way and it is perfectly all right to talk. In fact, I do not want to involve myself in controversial issues as there are many other things which may be done here. Please do not worry - you did nothing wrong to me. Hi Bhadani,

Can you please edit 'external links' in 'Indo-Aryan migration' article and add following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/hinduism/history/history_4.shtml. This is already discussed in discussion page under BBC link.

Thanks, BKN

No

I thank you for your message. However, my answer is no as I do not like the idea of creating user IDs to begin a talk. I request you to please begin editing wikipedias. Thanks. --Bhadani (talk) 17:58, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Repeating makes it perfect: [2] - yes - Ye shall keep My statutes. I just saw you on a particular page [3], and remembered you. I am sure that we all can work here very peacefully. Let us forget the past, and build a true encyclopedia. I also extend my warm wishes to you. Insha'Allah - let us, at least we two, make a new beginning, I mean a new working relationship and equation. All the best! --Bhadani (talk) 19:06, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In case, you so wish, you may contribute to other wikis like India Wikia. --Bhadani (talk) 19:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In case, you are so inclined, I have a suggestion: please keep a watch as suggested, and help in maintaining WP:INCINE. In case, you want to share information which can not fit in an encyclopedia, you may share the same with the world by telling at India Wikia. It is just a suggestion, and its acceptance and rejection depends on you. BTW, I am currently administrators in three Wikias. --Bhadani (talk) 19:22, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello sir, You are 54th on the Overall Top Editors, and 45th on the List of Admins. May I also know where I stand. I know that I won't be anywhere in the list but then also I would wish to know my rank. Sushant gupta 09:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sushant. In fact, number of edits are not important but the quality of edits. Small is Beautiful is not the name of a famous book, but it is true - one goes up step by step. This page lists editors based on the number of edits, and if one continues here for few months doing some edits regularly, one will find a place there - though finding a place is not important but the overall quality of edits and the dedication to build a true encyclopedia. Sometimes, 1000 words may be written with a single edit while sometimes few words may create many edits. Please see two of my own examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sri_Padmanabhaswamy_temple&oldid=20986744 as it was originally done by me gave me one edit while yesterday this edit gave me about a dozen edits. As such, please do not worry about edits - you will get many over a period of time. In case, you want your current number of edits you may refer to this tool: kate's tool. Sometimes, the tool does not work! Right now you have 1908 edits and they are really fine. Cheers. --Bhadani (talk) 13:47, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello sir, firstly I really appreciate your awareness regarding MediaWiki. Secondaly, there I gone through the term number of unique pages. Now what does that mean? I was having more 500 unique pages. Does that mean the number of special pages. Sushant gupta 15:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki tool

[edit]

Bhadaniji, Kaise hai aap. Can you please help me.I wish to have the lists of all the artilces I started and of all the categories I created. Is there any wiki tool to get these lists .If not what is the best way to compile such lists in short time. I did not keep record and I now wish to put the names of such articles and categories on my user page. Shyamsunder 17:24, 09 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main thik hun (I am fine). Talking to you after a long gap perhaps. I think perhaps there is no such tool fully operational right now though I am not sure - please see above the comments by Great. However, in case, you have kept the pages your created / initiated under your watchlist, you may see them one by one and, and identify the same and note them on your user page for your record. In case, you have missed them to keep under your watch, it is going to be a difficult task as you will have to see all your contributions from the very beginning, and identify the pages started/ initiated by you. In the process, you may forget (like many others) about some pages which you may have started/ inititated. But, it is ok - everyone forgets such things including me. Finally, such a list may give a sense of satisfaction, and may prompt one to develop the pages started/ initiated by you - but, even if one is able to have a complete list of such pages, one should not worry: one should continue to value add to wikipedia. That is a fine idea. No one should be allowed to misuse the trust of donors to Wikimedia Foundation, and editors should be allowed to work peacefully to realize the dream of Jimmy to present to the world a real encyclopedia, and not an encyclopedia reflecting stale history and stale ideologies researched a century or two before, and gathering dust in haunted libraries of the world - haunted by ???. It is the pious duty of every true wikipedia volunteer to rise to the occasion to clean wikipedia of un-encyclopedic contents. Need help on Jat people page

[edit]

It is after a long gap I contacted you. I have observed that large content of Jat people article was deleted in last few days. This is vandalism and should be stopped immediately. I had to restore sections like, Image of A Jat Sepoy, Jats in Shahnama, Jats in Sindh and Migration from Sindh, a part of Jats in Mahabharata. Can you find who did it and get him banned? Regards, --burdak 05:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Nice to see you again. In case, it is a case of vandalism, I highly deplore the same, and in the long run, all vandals are dealt with suitably. However, Burdakjee, when we are on a wiki, other editors may always come and change the contents. In case, you want the images, please verify the images once more for suitable copyright tags and if they fit into the contexts, you may again add them. Moreover, you should try to properly reference the contents. --Bhadani (talk) 09:32, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the threats

[edit]

Hi. Here are the links. The first link has the threat in hindi, which he later edited not realising that wikipedia has records of all edits. The user was indefinitely blocked. The guy returned with another username and made me threats in english which is the second link. he was blocked again. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Makrandjoshi&oldid=104617335

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Makrandjoshi#Watch_out Makrandjoshi 17:16, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And this is the legal threat made. That user was indefinitely blocked as well - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Indian_Institute_of_Planning_and_Management/Archive_10#Filing_a_police_complaint And to give you a context about this whole thing, IIPM has been making inflated claims in their ads. The mainstream media usually avoids exposing them because they are the biggest advertisers. An independent youth magazine and a few bloggers wrote about them and IIPM threatened to sue them. They even pressured the blogger's employers IBM, and made him quit his job. That case made big news, and is even mentioned in the wikipedia entry for blogs - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog#Employment You can find the full details here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Indian_Institute_of_Planning_and_Management_%28IIPM%29_advertising_controversy The reason IIPM supporters(most likely employees) keep adamantly whitewashing and reverting the page and are not interested in any discussion is that if you search for IIPM on google, the wiki page shows up very high. Just search IIPM on google and see how many extra redundant URLs they have created and pushed up via inter-linking on the search results. But wikipedia's page rank is very high so they can't displace it. Their only choice is edit wars. With this current edit lock, luckily for them, a version they like is saved, so they wont do anything for a month. Makrandjoshi 17:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The matter is being referred to one of the most competent functionaries of Wikimedia Foundation, and I trust that it will receive proper response as may be required. --Bhadani (talk) 17:36, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Masterbobo

[edit]

I think the user is clearly trolling, and don't see much productive in the edits. The user page is profanity in captions. The references to Dabba are clearly to Dbachmann. The first edit was to a banned user's page. The edit summaries are in reference to you in a negative light. I don't see anything but the behaviour of someone who is not here to contribute productively -- Samir 18:35, 15 April 2007 (UTC) Let me cite some examples:[reply]

I think he's just here to troll Samir 18:38, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bhadani, I seriously don't think this user is going to contribute to articles. He's just here to stir up trouble. He's been here before, and he'll be back in some other incarnation, so let's just nip this in the bud -- Samir 18:45, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think he's here to make articles and contribute productively. If you'd like to post on ANI for consensus, you're more than welcome to, but I really think that we should just block him and ignore -- Samir 18:48, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The block

[edit]

I find that you have blocked one Masterbobo. I do not understand the exact reasons for blocking that user - will you block all users who use pictures with caption not intended towards someone in particular. There may be 100s of similar examples in wikipedia. I would request you to please re-consider your decision. He has done better edits than the two complaints against him. And, his first two days on wikipedia was better than most of us perhaps. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 18:33, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, when he talked with the banned user for the first time, the user was not banned. Moreover, when he talked with him today, Aksi has not put the banned notice on the talk page and so he may have carried a monologue. The problem here is that an old editor like Mr Dab can get away even if he calls me a troll in September 2006 one year after I became an administrator, but a new user is not given any consideration. In case, you want to keep that user banned, it is your wish - but several established users have used even worse words against me. Will you ban all of them. Please review your ban and please do not get laid by the words of another user as he complained against me. --Bhadani (talk) 18:42, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had seen all these edits before I recommended that he should not be blocked. There are many such images and comments circulating in wikipedia. We can not allow all such users to be blocked. Many users have user boxes which are illegal if viewed in India iner IT Act 2000. Are you going to block and ban all of them? Many may be illegal under laws of different countries. Are we going to block all of them? --Bhadani (talk) 18:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, as you wish. Perhaps, he will again surface in some other form :) --Bhadani (talk) 18:48, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For a decision taken by you, I am not going to ANI for further consensus. Perhaps, you may be right. In any case, for last one year, I am not doing anything on wikipedia, and I find that it is no longer a place to be around. Most of my energies are now devoted to Wikias and I am administrator of four wikias. --Bhadani (talk) 18:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
