McGraw Hill spamming
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:15, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may place {{unblock}} on your user talk page to have the block reviewed. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia.

Request reason:
reasons: I followed existing entries that included links. It's confusing that these other entries are allowed to include links and that I was blocked for my entry that included a link. I understand now that I'm not allowed to included links and therefore will not include any links in the future. I do hope that I will be allowed to post entries, though. Thank you again.
Decline reason:
This account can't be unblocked, because it is closely related to the name of a business. You have misunderstood the rule; it isn't that no one is allowed to include links. Rather, under the conflict of interest guidelines, we all agree to avoid writing about our own businesses. However, I'm sure you're a smart and useful person, so if you're interested in participating at Wikipedia and willing to refrain from writing about McGraw-Hill, all you need to do is create an account with a personal username. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Hi. Are you an employee of McGraw-Hill? --jpgordon::==( o ) 20:16, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I am an employee of McGraw-Hill. Am I not allowed to list books that we publish if they're on the topic of the entry? --
- See WP:COI. We don't allow spamming/canvassing, whether it be books or links. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I don't handle unblock requests over email. If you wish to be considered for unblock, you'll need to use the {{unblock}} template, as mentioned above. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:50, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
