Birth and death dates
[edit]Hi Beth, thanks for your edits to James Swan (financier). However, Wikipedia has a particular format for the birth and death dates at the start of the article: i.e. (1754 – 31 July 1830), without mentioning the places of birth or death. Graham87 02:10, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
February 2014
[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Gilbert Stuart Newton may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 3 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

- He revisited America for a short time and there married Sarah Williams Sullivan (grandaughter of [[James Swan (financier)]] & [[Hepzibah Swan]] and [[James Sullivan (governor)]] ,

Disambiguation link notification for March 9
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Daniel Sargent, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page William Emerson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ralph Wormley Curtis, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://americanartgallery.org/artist/readmore/id/811.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Copying (including translation) within Wikipedia
[edit]Hello, Beth7g. :) I came upon the copyright concerns flagged at Ralph Wormley Curtis today and believe I have figured out what happened here. In the future, if this happens again, can you please place an explanation on the talk page of the article. It would be appreciated, as it could save a lot of time!
What seems to have happened here is that you were working to create a translation of the German Wikipedia article, which that website also translated. This is not a copyright problem in terms of their translation, as yours differs. However, it is a copyright problem if we don't give due credit to the German Wikipedians who wrote the original article.
While a lot of people are confusing on this subject, content on Wikipedia is not public domain; it is simply very liberally licensed for use and modification. One of the conditions of the license is attribution. It's perfectly okay to copy content from one Wikipedia article to another or to translate it from one Wikipedia article to another, but attribution is required. Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia talks about how to do this - at its most basic, what's needed is a note in the edit summary and a template on the talk page.
I have provided the note in edit summary, here. Please note that I have linked the article; this is required. If you're not familiar with the process, it's a simple matter of putting the language code in front of the article title inside your brackets - so [[:de:Ralph Wormeley Curtis]]
. This makes a quick link to the German version of the article.
The template on the talk page is a little more complicated, but not too bad. The only required parameters are the language name and the article title. You can see what it looks like filled out at Talk:Ralph Wormley Curtis. The directions for using the template, for future reference, are at Template:Translated page.
Sometimes bots will pick up translations like this even when all the formalities are met. This is not a problem; these things always get human review eventually. :) Just put a note on the talk page, and the person who reviews it will see what happened.
Thanks, and happy editing! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:42, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Alice Frost Blower Tilley
[edit]Hello Beth7g,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Alice Frost Blower Tilley for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 16:47, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I disagree with your characterization that this article should be deleted. I have appealed your request and responded on your talk page.
