Glacier Noir

Noticed on DYK, I have some concerns before reviewing. Different from the white one, the lead reads complicated and "German". As far as I know it is supposed to be just a summary of the article, therefore doesn't need refs, those go to the details in the article. I suggest you write the lead freely (not as a wörtliche Übersetzung), move the refs, and remove red links in pictures captions (one seems to be just spelling). Good luck, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:26, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Noch ein Wunsch: can you explain the Oisins? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:33, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the Oisans! And for improving the lede. But do you think you can trim that extra complicated sentence in Geography starting "As a result" to two or three sentences? In the hook it should be "which" instead of "that", I think. - I got the granite to Portal:Germany, please do it yourself for the next, also add your articles to "New articles" there. Please just add to DYK at the moment (it's short at the moment), also to the archive right away. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:31, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Schnarcherklippen

Good question, but I'm not particularly familiar with Goethe's Faust translations. I bet that for such a well-known work there are translations available, unfortunately not in Wikisource (incomplete). - Different question: an "independent" reviewer is expected for my super-difficult nomination of BWV 132 on 10 December. Would you mind having a look? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:04, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! Glacier Noir was moved to prep, did you know? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:38, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again. I won't mind "first", but as it probably also was his last, well, ... Leipzig didn't permit cantata music on the Fourth Sunday in Advent. You can read that in the DYK Germany archive. Did you move Glacier Blanc there? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:16, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
One more idea: I would perhaps not translate Goethe (who of the readers interested in rocks would estimate the poetry?) but highlight the word Schnarcher in it, perhaps bold. But I would try a translation of the name of the rock. Snorer's ? I don't know Klippen. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:32, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
I am German, you thought right. I was sloppy, should have said "I don't know what Klippen is in English." Learning outcrops etc. - doesn't sound as nice, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Last night I woke up and suddenly knew: cliffs. The white Cliffs of Dover. This morning I had a message: cliffs seems to be obvious. As for the Sonnenräder: sun wheels? But the symbol is something else, right? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:49, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Got it. I also leave the original in brackets if it may help, such as Hauptwerk in St. Martin, Idstein. Thanks to you the Advent cantata is now in the queue for the next slot, without pic, though, sigh, but I'm really tired of that discussion. I have a few more cantatas nominated, perhaps you want to look at one more? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:17, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Königsstein

Nice new article! (How many do you write a day?) I started a bit of ce (copy-edit) but don't have time for more. I noticed a "naked url" in the sources. To most of the refs I would add "(in German)" or, if in a template, "language=German". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:30, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Blauberge

Another one! One or more, that is the question, "Blauberge" is treated a plural, "are a mountain range" singular, "it's" - a bit confusing. - Where are the Schnarcherklippen on the Panoramic pic, please? - Two Bach cantatas went to special occasion, only one open, I will have to nominate one more for you, smile, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:42, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Stopped snoring seeing this problem (someone writes it in Wikipedie de (unsourced, as so often), another copies it to information, Wiki en takes that information as a source). I guess you solved it by additional sources, I offered an ALT instead, - once I had thought about it, I wrote it. Mentioning of Walpurgis night would make it more interesting, but then that would need referencing. I dared to change the picture caption of the panorama which made no sense. Pretty pictures of the rocks in snow, attracting everybody, including me. - Did I ever thank you for the organ improvement? "Timbre of the romantic", quite a creation. Thank you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:08, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mhiji (talk) 16:37, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

I support the deletion of this template. I thought I would need it in creating Portal:Saxony-Anhalt as it is a feature on German Wikipedia, but in the end it wasn't required. --Bermicourt (talk) 16:44, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Höllentalferner, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.summitpost.org/zugspitzplatt-jubilaeumsgrat/4429.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:19, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

The bot seems to have got this badly wrong. I translated the article from German Wikipedia, not summitpost, but either way the link contains no substantive text and the site's search engine couldn't even find Höllentalferner! I have removed the tag accordingly. --Bermicourt (talk) 11:26, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

What a picture! Makes you want to go there. - Minor hints: I would say Zahmer Kaiser, for people not reading German. The quote looks strange in my browser and very small print. I miss a ref for it and for the fire. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:05, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Seems to me that the template quote and the infobox don't go well together, the quote appears not where it belongs, but where the infobox ends, still confusing. Perhaps a simple <blockquote></blockquote> would be better in this case? Or have it later in the article? I won't make that fire a problem as it's not part of the hook. - Christmas: I had a cantata also yesterday and today, they celebrated for three days in Leipzig, today's was shown extra long because the next update was late... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:20, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

DYK archive

Thanks for asking, I put them here Portal:Germany, you have to scroll a bit or search for Harz granite, latest pic on top, then the latest DYK, and at the same time also in that (!) archive, new articles also there (!). I had no idea the other archive existed, and there may be another collection of new articles? Guter Vorsatz für's Neue Jahr: merging the two archives/articles, how? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:23, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Section (Alpine club) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Lobbyknees 56 (talk) 21:41, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Surprised (s. articles talk). I guess the world "club" is easily misunderstood. Perhaps write the lede freely and stress history and internationality first, before dealing with the figures. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:01, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
