User talk:Berean Hunter/Sandbox
Work in progress
[edit]Pursuant to this thread, I've been working on compiling evidence and listing IPs for a sock/LTA case. I'm inviting those in that thread as well as those who have participated in the previous sock cases to add any evidence or investigate further. The working draft is here and you are free to edit/add...any help is welcome.
He may be a little more sophisticated as a Wikipedian than one might expect from what we have seen. He claims to have been editing since 2006 (diff) which is also connected to this IP. The trouble he causes goes beyond just the dog articles. Please review the contribs of listed IPs which are all definitely him. It should become apparent that they are him after a bit of looking but if you still cannot connect something that I've listed, I'll help to clarify.
My initial inclination would be to block all anon IPs in his heavily used ranges. Since he has used several accounts also, we may need checkusers to evaluate those ranges for hardblocking a little later on after this has been fleshed out more and they have become more familiar with him.

- Bgwhite and Bbb23 were pinged in that thread and GB fan and Mike V have also dealt with this editor before. Should anyone else be notified?

- I was pinged under the misapprehension that I knew something about the master. I don't.--Bbb23 (talk) 02:24, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- 108.52.17.183 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) involved? Messed with lots of dog articles. I became aware of a pattern, where he was putting in misinformation in small dollops. Very insidious. I know some editors were reverting but were under the impression that warnings were ineffective. I always warn, and I filed a detailed report at WP:AIV that resulted in a block. User:Gareth Griffith-Jones saw it as being Whack-a-mole, and he might be right. We had a discussion on this talk page. BTW, I am not criticizing anybody, but I am concerned about the damage that has been and will be done. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 03:59, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- Clarification—Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not Whac-A-Mole — Gareth Griffith-Jones | The Welsh | Buzzard | 09:58, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- "...a little more sophisticated..." I thought you were talking about me. I lost interest in the thread. Let Bbb handle it. Drmies (talk) 14:17, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- Are you sure the Maryland Nazi (well, you know) is the same? What is the connection? What is the link between Philly dogs and Maryland POV? That Maryland editor, BTW, is a real prize. Drmies (talk) 14:24, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
I created the above LTA page prior to seeing this sandbox. After seeing the sandbox, I have incorporated almost all of the IPs listed. I didn't list the ones that looked like someone else was at work. I don't believe that this person is interested in Chinese topics or commuter stations or holidays. Rather, the IPs that are being used by this guy are also used by many others. I don't think of this person as very sophisticated. Binksternet (talk) 17:28, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
