Review of Tibouchina (done by Annika Smith)

Overall, I think that this is an excellent article. I like how you broke down the body of the article into Morphology, Distribution, etc., and then provided additional extensive information on the species themselves. Also, the amount and depth of citations that you provide is excellent!

Some thoughts:

1. I think that the terminology of the article could be generalized a little more. I think that article would be enhanced if there were more background/content around some of the terms you are using, so that it is more accessible to a wider audience. For example, I didn’t know what “pedoconnective” meant, and a quick google looks like it’s a term used almost exclusively in Melastomes. 2. Maybe change the distribution section to “Distribution and Ecology” and also mention that some species are buzz pollinated? Or if there is additional ecological information, it could be put into its own section? 3. More extensive “linking out” would be great—terms like “polyploidy” and “plesiomorphic” all have their own pages. 4. Throughout the article, you distinguish between Tibouchina s.l. & Tibouchina s.s.—and I know that this means sensu lato and sensu stricto, and later on in the article you define Tibouchina s.s., but I think this could be done earlier or more clearly.

You really added a ton to this page, nicely done!

Can you add a bit more to morphology? Like maybe some details about vegetative morphology, etc. I assume there are distinctive features of the genus beyond the few that you describe, it would be nice to have more information included there. In the Distribution section, can you talk more about average range size? I'm trying to get a feel for what the distributions of individual taxa are like - do most species have broad or narrow ranges? Is there a lot of overlap? Are there particular other plants that they cohabit with?

In the Tibouchina sensu stricto section, can you make it so clicking on each name in the list at the top hyperlinks to that species down below? Usually (at least with html code) you can put in an internal anchor, I assume you can do the same with Wikipedia though I can't remember the specific code for it. Since the list is long, it would be nice to have them link this way; also, this might allow searches for the individual species to link directly to their place in the list rather than ending up at the top of genus page, which is what happens now (I checked this for a few of them).
