Do not abuse Wikipedia for promotional purposes

[edit]

At this point, it looks highly likely that you are:

  1. abusing Wikipedia for promotional purposes; and
  2. violating Wikipedia's Terms of Service by failing to disclose a financial conflict of interest.

Is there any reason why your editing privileges should not be revoked because of this? MER-C 06:20, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

>Posting a book cover of a new book release by a fan is not something nefarious. I'm fairly new to WP, but based on seeing the edit histories of many other editors, I can plainly see that if all edits by the fans of all authors, artists, and musicians were banned, then WP biographies would look very slim, indeed.

And what financial conflict of interest? If you are going to level a charge like that, then please be specific. The fact that I have corresponded with the subject of a wiki bio is hardly grounds for editorial banning. The man has hundreds of thousands of readers. The fact that he corresponds with some of them is not something suspicious. BellicoseSouthernBelle (talk) 13:30, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are no excuses for edits like these. All of those links are promotional bordering on spam, and all are inappropriate for the encyclopedia. There are other reasons based on past experience why your editing history is suspicious. MER-C 03:58, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited James Wesley Rawles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Piper. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
