Caruso

[edit]

I reverted your addition to the lead for a couple of reasons. First, the first part about intuitive phrasing isn't supported by the source. Second, and more importantly, the long quote from Eiland needs to establish Eiland's credentials better to put this in the lead. I don't have a problem putting in a glowing quote about Caruso in the lead, but when it comes from a not-well-known curator of a museum and is apparently in some publication about an auditorium, I don't think it's appropriate. Feel free to discuss here or on Caruso's Talk page if you prefer.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:52, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may of course cut the part on intuitive phrasing.
Regarding Eiland... he does have a few credentials [1]. But in all honesty I don't care about credentials. I care about putting in good information, as long as that can be cited. You seem to be interested in Opera. Is there any part of the quote that you find unfitting (particularly that it may have factual error; or reflect an utter fringe view), or was the only issue you had with Eiland's credentials?
If you agree with the message, (or rather... if you agree that the quote can be a good summery of what many people do in fact believe about Caruso), then don't remove it based on the messenger. ;) Be good silverster (talk) 00:39, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Credentials matter. I could get Joe Schmo off the street to say "Caruso has a glorious voice", but I wouldn't cite Joe in a Wikipedia article. And Eiland's credentials seem to have nothing to do with music, let alone opera. Nor does it matter whether I agree with what Eiland said; my personal views are irrelevant.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:07, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
