Bitpunk addition to Cyberpunk Derivatives page Adding "bitpunk," regardless of the author, is a valid addition to the discussion of hybrid punk literary genres. The term was coined on an oft-quoted film review site that plays a major role in the promotion of genre fiction, including the promotion of innumerable cyberpunk derivatives. Quieteath.us has been quoted on numerous DVD covers, press packets, and promo materials by outside filmmakers and artists. The fact that I coined the term, and that I posted the edit, should be of no consequence. The addition of "bitpunk" is valid and backed by a notable source within the genre fiction scene. The fact that the edit was added to the "Other Proposed Derivatives"[1] section and not the section devoted to more established derivatives, should also be taken into account. Not to mention that the lead-in for the section states, "There have been a handful of divergent terms based on the general concepts of steampunk. These are typically considered unofficial and are often invented by readers, or by authors referring to their own works, often humorously." This statement leaves a great deal of room for what should be deemed "acceptable," and in effect allows for a very colorful and dynamic display of what is being proposed within punk literary genres.
