[edit]Hello, I’m Ehs2018. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to List of XML markup languages have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. [edit]If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Cullen328 (talk) 01:31, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
Please unblock my account.

Request reason:
This is not a promotional username. It is my actual last name. Yes, I added a link to the list of XML languages because we are working on the swiML project here at the university. I would like to build up a community around swiML, and having an entry in the list will enable others to find this XML standard easily. This is a genuine XML standard, and there is no reason for it not to be listed. Bartneck (talk) 01:43, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I'm not entirely clear on what the username issue is, but what you describe here is exactly the wrong reason to edit an existing article or create a new one. Wikipedia has no interest in promotional purposes like helping people find your project in search results, our only interest is in if a topic meets the notability criteria, as shown by significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Wikipedia is not a place to merely document things that exist. You'll have to find some other way to build up your community. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:36, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- 331dot, the username issue is that this editor tried to spam https://github.com/bartneck/swiML into an article. Cullen328 (talk) 08:00, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your explanation. Isn't that just representative of their information on Github, like a filename? (I'm no expert on Github by any means) 331dot (talk) 08:04, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but this is not a spam link. The project website for swiML is hosted on GitHub, which is the code sharing platform. The project comes from a work here at the University of Canterbury. We make the whole project available open source. This is an important and legitimate XML standard that deserves and entry in the list. But even if you do not agree with me on this, it is rather harsh that you completely and indefinantely block my account. It is my understanding that the Wikipedia is build upon contributions from the community. How can I contribute if you block my completely based on a dissagrement on a list entry? That does not seem proportional. Could you please at least unblock my account? Bartneck (talk) 02:31, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
