IP block exemption

Request reason:
I am a casual Wikipedia contributor since several years and the main laptop that I am using for work also has to be connected to a VPN in order to access Internet.
Accept reason:
Katie has granted you IPBE. PhilKnight (talk) 23:16, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
@PhilKnight: @KrakatoaKatie: I still cannot edit Wikipedia articles from my account: "You are currently unable to edit Wikipedia". --Baptx (talk) 08:50, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- I did grant IPBE in 2018, but it seems Mike V yanked it a month later after one of his 'audits' and didn't consult or inform me. I'm going to grant it again for one year. If you still require it after that, you'll need to apply again using the instructions at WP:IPBE. Katietalk 10:36, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
@KrakatoaKatie: Thanks, I think you meant 2016. Isn't it possible to have a permanent IP block exemption unless I don't need it anymore? --Baptx (talk) 11:59, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- In 2016 we didn't have the capability to grant time-limited user rights or I would have set it for one year then. This is what I feel comfortable doing for an intermittent contributor. If you'd like a permanent exemption now, you'll need to ask someone else. Katietalk 17:40, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

IP block exempt
[edit]I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.
Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.
Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this userright to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.
Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).
I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Katietalk 22:12, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
The article World's safest banks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Why is this list more notable than other lists of "safe" banks? If it were important, it should be a section of the article on the magazine, but still shouldn't be a redirect, as there are other lists.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 06:09, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for September 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Theridula gonygaster, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Congo. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:25, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Why the awkwardly-named categories?
[edit]Can you please provide some explanation as to your creation of categories such as Category:Films played by Leonardo DiCaprio? Besides the nonsensical naming schema (Leonardo DiCaprio didn't play a film), it's unclear to me why you've created these categories, and they don't appear to be in accordance with Wikipedia standards regarding categorization. Thank you for shedding some light on this. DonIago (talk) 20:38, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
@Doniago: I explained the reason in the edit summary when creating the categories: "create category without redirect to remove red link on categories of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_Eating_Gilbert_Grape and find films where 2 actors played together: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Category_intersection#Using_MediaWiki_search_to_find_category_intersections"
I also explained it in the talk page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_talk:Films_played_by_Johnny_Depp
Maybe there is an English mistake in the categories name that should be corrected (I come from France so it could happen) but the categories need to be created so we can find films where 2 actors played together, using category intersections (explained in my second link above). --Baptx (talk) 10:36, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
@Doniago: I also noticed you reverted my edits where I added categories on films like What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Alice in Wonderland (2010 film) and Inception. This should be kept in order to make category intersections work. --Baptx (talk) 10:46, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
@Doniago: By the way, which name do you suggest? "Films where Leonardo DiCaprio played"? Maybe it is possible to rename the category without deleting it, I am not sure. --Baptx (talk) 10:59, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- There's really no need to ping me multiple times. There's actually no need to ping me at all as I've added this page to my watchlist, though I appreciate the courtesy. :)
- "Films where X played" is poor grammar. "Films in which X acted" would be more grammatically appropriate, but I have doubts as to whether what you're trying to do is supported by Wikipedia policies/guidelines. More specifically, if you read the top of the page that you linked me to, it specifically describes category intersections as a feature request, which suggests to me that there's no consensus on making changes associated with it at this time, much less any implementation for category intersections.
- TL;DR I think I understand your intentions now, but I don't think what you're trying to do is presently supported by Wikipedia standards. I'd recommend you discuss the situation at the Talk page for the feature proposal to get advice from editors more familiar with the situation. Hope this is helpful! DonIago (talk) 12:55, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- Just came across these empty categories. Such categorization is not allowed per WP:PERFCAT. This would lead to severe overcategorization of film articles because people would want to list every actor who starred in the film. And trying to determine a cutoff would lead to countless arguments. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:21, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- Since categories like "Films directed by X" and "Films scored by X" are already allowed, shouldn't we allow "Films in which X acted"? I don't see why directors or composers would be allowed to have categories but not actors, they are an even more important / popular part of a film. I think it does not matter if there are a lot of categories, for example actor categories could be separated from other categories or listed at the end. Baptx (talk) 07:37, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- One reason is that there's typically only one director or composer associated with a film, but there are typically many actors associated with a film, so adding such categories would lead to significant article expansion. In any event, if you feel strongly about this, I think the best place to raise it would be at the talk page for WP:PERFCAT; even if the three of us agreed here, that wouldn't be a significant consensus. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 12:28, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Such categories were deleted long ago; eg 2007_January_9#Category:John_Wayne_films. Oculi (talk) 18:11, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to IMDb, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 16:32, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

List of online payment service providers
[edit]Hello. Your recent edit to List of online payment service providers appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 09:42, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

- @Diannaa: Couldn't my contribution be removed partly only? I guess most of the my contribution based on https://www.osw.waw.pl/en/publikacje/analyses/2021-02-03/ukraine-pro-russian-tv-channels-closed-down can be found on other websites. So if I understand correctly, I will have to search a source that does not mention "Copyright" or the "©" logo. Baptx (talk) 20:42, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
The article Durable has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
I doubt the topic is notable and I was unable to find any sources that could contribute to it meeting the WP:GNG or WP:NCORP, including the sources on the German Wikipedia. Should this PROD run 7 days, this page should become a redirect to Durability again (adj. to noun redirect)
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Durable until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
—Danre98(talk^contribs) 17:19, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
An article you created, Durable, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more content and citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
