Overtime Draft Improvement
[edit]Hello, I formerly contributed to the Overtime page when it was up before. I just wanted to know if you have a copy of the old page's content and I could help improve your draft with some of the notable bits of content there, so it can have better chances to be approved. Please share this with me if you have it. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 06:58, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- I don't. It was taken down and I believe deleted. Not sure how to find it. The article I rewrote that's currently in draft status doesn't seem promotional in anyway. Here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Overtime_(sports_network) Bankrupt305 (talk) 19:46, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
Ok, I have some suggestions to improve it based on the past version. For the investors, it could help to edit in and put the per round of funding than just jumble up the investors together. I'll be editing that part in myself over the next few days. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 15:02, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
I just added more details on the funding round to further show the use of third-party sources and notability. I put the funding rounds from seed to Series D for reference. Let me know what you think and if you have other ideas to add, I can help you check them and see if they are fit. I removed the merchandise part of the article as it is too irrelevant to include in the article, see how Bleacher Report and ESPN don't put those in their articles. Same goes for the NFT project, irrelevant like the merchandise. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 16:14, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Word of advice, do not copy paste word per word from articles into the Overtime page, instead, always paraphrase what is written because it would be plagiarism to just copy everything, I noticed that in the Overtime Elite section on the curriculum having just been pasted from the SBJ article, I just edited that part and paraphrased it. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 07:57, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- All of your additions look great. Thank you for taking the care and time to make sure it meets Wiki standards. Is there any way to get this approved? Or do we have to wait many months? Bankrupt305 (talk) 14:12, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
So far it looks good to go, I can actually have this go live as an article by myself as I have had approved drafts before so I have that right now. But before I go and have this page go live, do you have any other notable information on Overtime you could add, otherwise, it looks good to go for me. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- It looks great. Thank you so much. I guess my question is, how much detail should we add about Overtime Elite? Or should I add that as we go? And so, we launched a 7 on 7 football league called OT7. https://theathletic.com/3462115/2022/07/30/recruiting-overtime-nil-social-media/ Bankrupt305 (talk) 15:06, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
I would add the Overtime Elite detail as much as you can, provided it's big big news, do not add all the player signings as not all are significant of course, but big news here and there like the Pau Gasol board joining and historic player signings like say players who end up in the NBA would be good. As for the football league, you can add that under the Overtime history and just make sure to cite sources properly, cite a subscription need for access if you'll use The Athletic source. I feel it's good to publish after you add that bit on OT7. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 16:02, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
I just added that bit on OT7, kindly check, then I think this is improved enough to publish as an article/page. Let me know your thoughts. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 16:04, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- I think it's ready to go. The only thing I'd add is that we held our inaugural OT7 Season this June in Las Vegas. The athletic article above could be the reference for that. Then I think you can post. Really do appreciate it. Bankrupt305 (talk) 16:38, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Please take a quick look at what I think should be the final version for now that's good to edit. Happy to help as a fan of Overtime and would be open to connecting over email if you are open to that to discuss more on Overtime from a fan's perspective. Will be activating this as a page in a bit if good with you. Nintendoswitchfan (talk) 17:10, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
