Need help on Categories
[edit]What would be good Categories for my article Letter to Posterity that was written by Petrarch in 1372?
767 E-door
[edit]What you are referring to in the boeing PDF is an option that can be ordered at the time the aircraft is built. It's not something that can be added later. Akradecki 13:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Air Canada 777 Order
[edit]Air Canada will have 17 777s in fleet, 16 are AC's and 1 77W is leased.
That means, there are 10 77W's on order, plus 1 on lease, total 77Ws = 11, and 6 77L's.
I don't know where you got this info. from that AC will have 16 777s in fleet.
AC website shows 11 77Ws and 6 77Ls, total = 17. FlyAirCanada 20:07, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- The one 77W that is on lease was delivered last week.FlyAirCanada 22:56, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- To reinforce what FlyAirCanada has posted above. The leased 77W MSN 35298 C-FITW from ILFC is delivered and in service. See [1] . As to the mix of 77W and 77L, your guess is as good as mine. I believe the contract allowed AC to vary the aircraft mix, so the Boeing numbers may, in fact, be correct - i.e. 8 and 8. I doubt that we will see updated numbers respecting the mix from AC anytime soon. Regards --Rosetown 23:08, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- So the fleet table should show 9 77W's and 8 77L's now, right? FlyAirCanada 19:10, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:787_range.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:787_range.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 22:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Boeing images
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that as far as I saw, the images you just uploaded (787-S7.jpg and 787-RJ.jpg) are copyrighted by Boeing, so you won't be able to license them under GFDL. Seeing as how they are on a media-oriented website, you may be able to get away with {{promotional}}, as long as the image is considered non-replaceable. For the time being, I've removed the GFDL tags, and replaced them with {{no license}}. Since you know more about the site you got them from, could you please update the copyright status? If I'm wrong, and they are in fact GFDL, feel free to revert. Thanks! tiZom(2¢) 05:54, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- So whats the best way to go about this?
- I think you know more than I do. These are from Boeing press releases. They are given to the media and the public. It is fine to use them. So what should I put them under?--Bangabalunga 05:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Go ahead and add this to all the images that you're adding. It covers copyright and Fair Use rationale, so it should do the trick:
==Summary== {{Non-free media rationale | Description = Photo of <!--Name and model number--> | Source = <!--website-->, <br/> © [[Boeing]] | Portion = | Resolution = Yes | Purpose = Depict airplane model | Replaceability = Not replaceable <br/> *It is almost impossible to take a photo of an airplane while in flight *Airport restrictions prevent photography of airplanes while on ground | other_information = Fair Use for the following article(s): * [[<!--Article name-->]] }} ==Licensing== {{promotional}}
Be sure to fill out the three fields, as they vary among your images. Let me know if you have any questions. :o) tiZom(2¢) 06:22, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:787-AZ.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:787-AZ.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Rory096 14:25, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

- The images violate fair use criteria 3a and 8. 8 specifically disallows galleries of fair use images. The image content was not discussed in the text, and did not contribute a significant amount to the article. They are promotional images that Boeing allows private, non-commercial use of (see [2]), yes, but they aren't under a free license, and they're certainly not under the GFDL. Please remove the false copyright tags on the images. --Rory096 14:22, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Reedy boy changes
[edit]Marcus, it looks likes he's changing ALL the airliner tables, including Airbus and CRJ. - BillCJ 22:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- I dont see what the point of it is. It is not improving the article. Its very superficial. I will change the CRJ as well. Do you agree?--Bangabalunga 22:44, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I agree. If he goes back and does it again, we'll try to engage him in a discussion on WT:AIR. If he won't discuss or refuses to back down, we can talk to Alan and get his advice/help. - BillCJ 22:54, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Nice to see people just talking about it behind your back... My reasoning was that there was no real standard format, and the colours didnt really fit in. Simplifying the formatting reduces the un-necessary page load... Reedy Boy 12:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's nice to see users who make wholesale changes to articles they do not edit without the consideration of approaching the regulars editors on that page, or approaching them in any way to discuss such changes before making them. When you exhibit such basic cortesies, the need to discuss what to do about your actions "behind your back" will disappear. - BillCJ 16:42, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I do edit the articles, and have had them on my watchlist for a while, making the odd change here and there. Granted, i dont do most of the work like yourself and Fnlayson and such do, but its not like i've never made any changes on them before. Reedy Boy 18:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Its just weird you reverted some of my changes and no them all, and the fact you didnt actually tell me on my talk page/try and discuss it directly with me... Im not going to get into a revert war about it, there is no point. Reedy Boy 12:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter much to me. Most of the Boeing tables were fairly standard with yellow on the first row. It would have helped if you added "standardize" in your edit summaries. -Fnlayson 16:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- The reason all were not reverted is that the other ones were not the yellow types. I always set the goal to convert them to yellow but never get a chance. Several editors about several months back decided we would go with the yellow tables. They are easier to read and neater with individual cells. Thats all. Nothing personal. As with not placing a word on your TALK page, if you remember about 7-9 months back you went around eliminating colspans on all spec sheets. I asked you why are you eliminating colspans but you never got back to me. That edit I let stand, I said whatever and moved on. But yesterdays edits are really not improving the page so I reverted.--Bangabalunga 17:42, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- For the colspan comment, i dont ever remember doing that. There is nothing in my user talk page log, and nothing in my archive. And i dont delete messages, good or bad. So, i think you are getting me confused with someone else. Reedy Boy 18:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

A350-900R?
[edit]Marcus, could you take a look at my reversions here? It was unsourced, so I don't regret taking it out, but I just wanted to see if you had heard anything about the A350-900R. Is it the same type of situation with the 787-1000, or is it not even that far ahead? - BillCJ 01:32, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Great Job Bill. A350-900R was first reported by Flight International last year as a variant that may one day be produced. EIS is 2016 if ever launched. There is nothing else on this plane. Not worth mentioning at all. It is the same thing as the 787-10 but even less so as not even Leahy talks about it. There are no specs of any kind except for a guestimate range of 9,500nm. A350 has three official variants and nothing else, I would have reverted as well. --Bangabalunga 03:01, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:787_range.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:787_range.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 14:58, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:A350-Cockpit.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:A350-Cockpit.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shell babelfish 06:13, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

The article Oak Street (Vancouver) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable city street that does not appear to meet the WP:GNG.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Admrboltz (talk) 20:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile!
