User talk:Bamse/National Treasures of Japan
Hello, I add this book reference because it contains: -4 maps (Kyôto - Nara - Biwa lake - Japan) referencing all the national treasure of Japan and more. -About each temple, shrine or castle, it has also some picture and a little notice concerning its history and architectural particularity. I copy for you a part of the abstract of the book in English: "Conceived as a historical atlas illustrated, this book allows the reader to discover the sublimes sites of the archipelago. For the first time, it offers a complete overview of the buildings classified Japanese national treasures: chapels and Buddhist pagodas, Shinto shrines, castles, imperial villas, majestic mansions and farmer houses. Two hundred sites and over three hundred buildings are commented with historical references and situated on maps." And those elements are just a “secondary” part of the book; the main part seems to me a great reference about: the perception of Japanese architecture out of the world, the history of history of Japanese architecture, and in a third part, more theoretical, it discuss bout the way Japanese restore and keep alive their architecture trough the example of Ise-jingû, of the imperial palace, and of the Nageiredô. But the main reason why I had this reference is I thing there is no such complete book in English or other Western language, so I thought even if it is written in French it might be very useful for readers and researchers. And finally, as you might have notice, my English is not good enough to add any comments on this very nice article. Thanks.
- Thanks for the reply. Indeed a very useful reference if it contains all the national tresure structures. Sorry for removing it from these articles. Feel free to put it back in. However I think it would be more useful to have it as inline reference with page numbers to see what facts it references. You could add those with Template:Harvnb for instance. Also if there is any important information in the book which is not yet in the wikipedia articles, I'd be very interested to learn about it. By the way, do you know of a non-Japanese reference for all the crafts national treasures? bamse (talk) 10:30, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
