Mandatory paid editing disclosure
[edit]Hello BB392017. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:BB392017. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=BB392017|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:00, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Anachronist -- Definitely not paid and my understanding is wiki is a free volunteer forum. My comment on paid was actually relative to my own situation as writer. I am a writer also, first novel but it is unpaid in spare time, my profession is independent publisher. For transparency I did a q and a article with the actress years ago and am familiar with the work and looked up and it is clear needed a fix and had many holes in. Happy to help and for others to back up.BB392017 (talk) 04:27, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Can start to update more pages. A lot of artists on here are needing proper citations according to wiki flags. The citations seem to come up via the source search, but won't edit more until feedback. Thanks BB392017 (talk) 04:34, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. Do you have any other association with Joanna Pickering other than the interview you mentioned? It isn't a problem if you do, but you do need to disclose it (and any other conflict of interest you may have with articles you edit). ~Anachronist (talk) 23:25, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: Joanna Pickering has been accepted
